- Marjorie refused to reconcile with sister Gretchen.
The feud between Barretto sisters Gretchen and Marjorie has yet to be settled even after the death of their family’s patriarch.
At the wake of their father Miguel, Gretchen and Marjorie weren’t able to settle their differences which resulted in a confrontation and a scuffle.
On Wednesday, October 16, Gretchen went to the wake of their father to pay her last respects and also to take the opportunity to reconcile with their mother Inday.
President Rodrigo Duterte was also at the wake at the time.
According to the report by ABS-CBN news, the President was seen mediating between Gretchen and Marjorie. The President reportedly asked the two to shake hands out of respect for their father.
While Gretchen showed openness to the President’s gesture, Marjorie apparently refused and accused her older sister of being “plastic” in front of the president.
ABS-CBN news’ source said Gretchen was calm during the moment and it was Marjorie who seemed irate and fuming.
After the incident, everything was supposed to be calm until one of Gretchen’s nieces allegedly lunged at her when the actress was talking to her friends in one corner. In retaliation, Gretchen then pulled the hair of her niece causing a scuffle which needed the PSG (Presidential Security Group) to step in and break up the fight.
Gretchen reportedly apologized to the President after what happened.
In a statement to ABS-CBN News, Gretchen said that everything was smooth sailing until Marjorie started to fume.
“It was all so nice until Marjorie had a nervous breakdown.” she said.
She also confirmed the President’s mediation between her and Marjorie but the latter refused.
“But Marjorie was not happy that I was there to reunite with family,” Gretchen added.

Meanwhile, Marjorie has broken her silence on Instagram claiming these are all lies as far as she is concerned’
Marjorie wrote, “There are very disturbing news going around right now. All these years, I have kept my peace and I always chose to ignore all the LIES that my sisters spread about me and my children. But nothing can get lower than this.”
“Giving false statements to the press, and twisting stories about what really happened in my Father’s wake is by far the most epic one. They have tried so hard over the years to destroy my name, I have nothing to lose anymore at this point.I love my family very much, they are my core. I am all for reconciliation.”
“We were hoping for that all those 16 days that my Father was fighting for his life in the hospital.It would have been nice if she made her peace in the quiet of my Fathers room. With no cameras. Don’t be fooled by the statements of my sisters, they are leaving out a very important detail of what really caused pain and tension in the wake.May I request everyone to allow our family to grieve, it’s our last day with our Father today.”

Because when I speak the truth, my life and my children’s life will be put in danger. Her daughter Julia showed her support at the comment section: “We’re behind you mom. The truth will set you free. You are protected and loved by many. You are the rock of this family. Everyone is behind you. We will all protect you. God is watching. He knows mom, He knows. Stand tall, and be still. You hold the truth, the whole family knows the truth. Everyone was a witness, everyone will stand by you.”
The Barretto sisters have a long standing family feud with Gretchen having on an off relationship with her sisters.
Since 2013, Gretchen has been estranged from the family after a feud with Claudine.
Earlier this year, Gretchen and Claudine reconciled and have been a constant presence in each other’s lives with Marjorie being left out.
And just recently when the Julia-Gerald-Bea controversy broke out, the siblings feud was again highlighted by Claudine and Gretchen siding with Bea and Marjorie being left alone to defend her daughter Julia.
