Kapamilya actress Angel Aquino has voiced her support for LGBTQIA+ relationships, emphasizing that love transcends gender and calling on the public to approach the issue with openness and compassion.

Speaking to the media during the premiere night of her film ‘Until She Remembers’, Aquino addressed the ongoing conversations surrounding LGBTQIA+ relationships, which resurfaced online following controversial remarks made by actor Alvin Aragon about homosexuality.
“Oras na, anong taon na? Di ba? Para sa akin lang let’s all have open minds and open hearts. Love is love and in the end, it’s all that matters, ‘di ba?” Aquino said.
The actress stressed that gender should not define love or relationships.
“There’s really no gender when it comes to love. It’s really just two people, two spirits, two souls who have that reverence for each other,” she added.
Aquino also questioned why same-sex couples should be prevented from expressing what they genuinely feel.
“Bakit hindi natin pagbigyan yun? Bakit kailangan natin silang pigilang kung yun yung nararamdaman nila? Basta they don’t cause each other pain,” she said.
She further pointed out that societal judgment often causes more harm than the relationships themselves.
“If anything, tayo yung nagko-cause ng pain sa kanila kasi hindi natin sila pinapayagan, hindi natin sila naiintindihan. Pero, siguro mas magiging malaya sila kung papalayain natin sila,” the actress and host explained.
Aquino had previously opened up about her own experiences when asked about something not widely known about her.
“Oh I don’t know, my life’s an open book. I like girls? There. Well, a lot of people are in denial, sila talaga ‘yung in denial,” she shared in an earlier interview.
She later clarified her statement to avoid misinterpretation.
“Wait, can I just correct that because I said I like girls. You know that might sound, especially with social media, it might sound weird. I’m saying I fall in love also with girls and women. They might think it, you know, it can sound weird kasi if you just take it as is,” she explained.
Aquino’s latest film, ‘Until She Remembers’, is directed by Brillante Mendoza and features a cast that includes Charo Santos, Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, Barbie Forteza, Albert Martinez, and Eric Quizon.
