- GMA Network is set to remake the Korean series Descendants of the Sun
- It is the most anticipated Koreanovela remake in the country this year
- Jasmine Curtis-Smith revealed that the series might premiere next year
Descendants of the Sun, one of the well-loved Korean series in the country, will be recreated into a Pinoy version by GMA Network.
The news about the remake of the series became a hot topic on social media prior to its announcement early this year.
Though fans are excited about the launching of the series as early as now, the Pinoy version of the Descendants of the Sun may likely air in February 2020 as revealed by actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith.3
“Nagtataping na rin ako for Descendants of the Sun na I think is set to air by February of next year. As of now siguro kung bibilangin ko naka-isang linggo na ako ng taping. Okay naman siya so far malayo lang kasi kampo talaga and okay lang kasi the thing is gusto namin talaga maging authentic yung ginagawa namin and mabigyan namin ng justice yung original na script and also yung visuals nila,” Jasmine shared in a press conference.
Jennylyn Mercado is said to be playing the role of Beauty, Dingdong Dantes’s leading lady in the series.
But according to Jasmine, there has been no confirmation made yet.
“This month lang I think medyo nag-pause kami kasi waiting ng confirmation for the lead actress and also wala si Dong (Dingdong Dantes). Wala pa. Wala pa akong nakukuhang confirmation kung sino, kung siya na ba talaga,” Jasmine said.
The lead actress was not included during the first week of their taping.
Jasmine also shared that she underwent trainings, specifically basic life support training and sessions for holding a gun, in preparation for her role as Moira in the upcoming series.
The cast of the remake of the 2016 series include Kapuso stars Rocco Nacino, Paul Salas, Lucho Ayala, and Chariz Solomon.
Descendants of the Sun is a South Korean romance series originally starring Song Joong-ki as Capt. Yoo Si-jin or Big Boss, Song Hye-kyo as Dr. Kang Mo-yeon or Beauty, Jin Goo as Master Sergeant Seo Dae-young, and Kim Ji-won as Yoon Myung-ju. It was also broadcast in several countries across Asia.
