Ryu Seung-ryong, the original Korean actor of Miracle in Cell No. 7 reacted to the news that there is a Philippine remake of the hit Korean movie.
Through his social media account, the renowned Korean movie star shared that he was moved knowing that his movie will have a remake in the country.
“So touched to know that there will be a Philippine remake,” he said.

The Philippine adaptation of the family melodrama will be top-billed by Aga Muhlach as the Lee Yong-gu character and Xia Vigor as young Ye-sung. Nadine Lustre was first tapped to portray the role of the adult Ye-sung ,originally played by Park Shin-hye but she backed out due to health reasons. She was then replaced by Bela Padilla.
The Viva film is an official entry for the 45th edition of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that will start on December 25, 2019 and end on January 7, 2020.
The film became one of the well-loved foreign films in the country so there is no wonder why its Philippine adaptation received huge support from Pinoy fans. Viva films officially released its teaser last November 12 and it rapidly trended on the internet. It earned over 7 million views in less than 16 hours since it was posted.
In an Instagram post, Aga asked fans their support for his movie.
“We won’t fail you. Maramimg salamat sa inyong lahat,” he wrote.
Some celebrities also reacted to the touching three-minute teaser of the film.
“Excuse me… crying,” Lea Salonga said.
“Congratulations Kuya,” celebrity mom Marian Rivera greeted Aga.
Meanwhile, Madrasta actress Gladys Reyes expressed her excitement to watch the film.
Miracle in Cell No.7 is a 2013 film which tells the story of a father (Ryu Seung-Ryong), who is mentally handicapped, but loves his daughter very much. He is falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison. Later, his daughter Ye-Seung (Park Shin-Hye, who is a law school student) works to prove his innocence.
