James Reid and Nadine Lustre both flew to Brazil last January for the February 2020 issues of Mega Man and Mega Magazine.
During the interview for their respective cover stories, the former couple released reassuring statements that they still both love each other.
James shared that he is now figuring out who he really is without Nadine. Since he used to be with the Kapamilya actress, everything now seems to be in a blur and he is confused about what he must do first.
He said: “I am not sure who I am without Nadine yet. We’ve been in a love team for so long and that’s been my whole life. I can’t even begin to think of who I am or what I’m supposed to be outside of that love team, which is scary.”
To prevent any speculations, James admitted that he might sound heartless for wanting to be independent, but it’s not the main reason why they broke up. It was the only detail he wants to share with the public.
He continued: “And that’s why I said I got a lot of figuring out to do. But as far as aspirations go, I’d like to just get to know myself better and become more independent. There are too many to point out, but that’s all I’m able to share without going into depth.”
James affirmed that even though they have gone their separate ways, he still loves Nadine.
“I still love her. It’s just my perspective on love has broadened.”
Meanwhile, the controversial actress admitted that she had a hard time to accept that they need to separate. As per Nadine, James was her security blanket but, no matter what happened between the two of them, she’s still grateful for knowing James.
Nadine admitted: “It wasn’t easy to say the least. He’s the first person to come and rescue. I’ve learned so much from him. I’m always going to be thankful that that guy came into my life, no matter what happens.”
Nadine described James as optimistic and believes that everything that is happening is part of their journey.
“He’s very optimistic. When it comes to dealing with life in general, you’re never going to see him worrying or down. He’s not afraid of uncertainty. He has 110% trust in the universe. Everything that is happening to him is a part of his journey.”

In August 2015, their series On the Wings of Love TV aired on ABS-CBN and gave them the chance to prove that they were ready for mature roles. By February 2016, the couple admitted they were in a relationship for real.
In 2017, JaDine became controversial when they admitted that they were living under one roof. They confirmed their breakup by releasing a joint statement that was read on Tonight With Boy Abunda.
