GMA Network’s Primetime King Dingdong Dantes received praise from netizens for supporting the rival network ABS-CBN in its fight to get its franchise renewed.

On his Twitter account, Dantes supported ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal despite working for the Kapuso network.

“Magkaiba man ng bakod, we are one in the media industry. We have one love for the many talents and crafts under this Network, the products and output of which, directly or indirectly, benefit the lives of millions of Filipinos.”

He also quoted Congressman Lito Atienza’s statement when the latter demanded Franz Alvarez to resign for failing to act on 11 pending bills.

Rep. Atienza of @buhayparty_list in his speech yesterday at the Congress, said that: “Inaction will only spell the weakening of the foundations of our democratic system. If Congress will not take action, Rep. Atienza added:

“this Congress is really paralyzed with inaction; and we should not be deserving to be called representatives of the people.”

In his last post about the ABS-CBN franchise renewal, Dantes hoped for the best results and that the true interests of the people prevail over political agenda.

In the end, I pray that the true interests of the people, under the rule of law, will prevail over any other political agenda conveniently veiled as a countermeasure against alleged abuses.

Netizens expressed their admiration for Dantes in supporting ABS-CBN’s fight against the Duterte administration and other government officials.

Amusing that Dingdong, from GMA, has a stronger stance against this Duterte’s attack on press freedom than ABS-CBN’s talents, let alone its management. Suffice it to say that I will only call myself a dds if it means dingdong dantes supporter https://t.co/FqMmuBAseV pic.twitter.com/sBUgW2MrdO
