Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado shared her sentiments on the controversial tweet of Janine Gutierrez about Sen. Bong Revilla’s TV comeback

In a sideline interview with reporters after Revilla’s thanksgiving party, Mercado was asked about her take on the recent viral tweet of Janine.

The reporter asked how it affected the relationship between their families.

“Syempre [hindi naman] tao lang ako nasasaktan ako pero I just look at the relationship that I have with their, with the older members of their family who I have strong ties with,” Lani said.

“Ahmmm ano ba masasabi ko…they’re entitled to their own opinion. Yun nga lang masakit kasi galing sa sariling mundo kung saan ka galing. Pero mas…ako tiningnan ko talaga yung relationships ko sa mga mas nakatatandang myembro ng pamilya nila ganun na lang,” she added.

Meanwhile, asked how she would react if ever they cross paths at GMA network or anywhere, Mercado said it would be no problem with her.

“Our paths will cross. Hindi pwedeng hindi. eh walang problema naman. Artista ako, I love the industry. Hindi balakid sa akin ang mga komentong ganun na galing sa mga nakababatang miyembro ng industry,” she answered.

The Bacoor mayor also added that while she’s somehow shocked at how opinionated the younger ones are today, she understands that it’s part of their freedom of speech.

“I’ve been where they are…nagugulat lang ako sa kanila. pero kasi nung panahon namin hindi ganyan. we give respect to the older and elder members of the industry irregardless kung anong pagkakamali nila o kung meron man silang pagkakamali.

“Nasasa-tao yun….kasi ano freedom of speech yan eh. Andami nang medium, social media, tv, radio, print, hindi mo makokontrol. It really shows what you are made of, “ she explained.

Last year, Janine made headlines after she tweeted “Oh God” as a reaction to Kapuso network’s teaser about Revilla’s upcoming show Agimat Ng Agila.

Her tweet made the rounds on social media and earned the ire of Revilla’s manager Lolit Solis.

Solis slammed Janine for allegedly being rude and disrespectful to an older actor like Revilla

“Siguro gusto ni Janine Gutierrez na mapansin ko siya Salve. The nerve na mag-negative comment siya sa TV comeback ni Bong Revilla. How can she be so cruel for a second chance to a co-actor like Bong without even thinking if not for the goodness of people she won’t be where she is today.” wrote Lolit on her Instagram post.
