Ronnie Alonte admitted that he’s worried that the COVID-19 epidemic may affect the tickets sales of his latest movie James and Pat and Dave with Loisa Andalio and Donny Pangilinan.
According to Ronnie, right before his recent movie launched in cinemas nationwide, he tried to visit a mall to see if people were still going out despite the COVID-19 scare.
Unfortunately, he noticed it was almost empty.
He also acknowledged that the Taal Volcano eruption might have affected movie attendance as well
Ronnie admitted: “Yun nga po ang ikinakalungkot namin. Sa totoo lang po, before pa po mag-showing ang movie, yun na po ang kinatatakutan namin. Yung mga nangyayari sa bansa na hindi maganda, lalo na yung mga tao. Ako, personally, bago mag-showing ang movie, nag-try ako pumunta ng isang mall, walang katao-tao, walang katao-tao talaga. Takot na takot silang lumabas.”
Ronnie still hopes that people will consider watching James and Pat and Dave.

“Sana naman po, galing po sa kadulu-duluhan ng puso namin, bigyan niyo po kami ng pagkakataon. Alam ko po, may iba na gustong manood pero natatakot lang. Huwag po kayong matakot. Bigyan natin ng oras kahit dalawang oras lang na sumaya kayo, kiligin. Kasi marami tayong matutuhanan sa movie. Hindi naman sa binubuhat ko ang sariling bangko. Pero, i-enjoy niyo lang, alisin po muna ang stress, laban lang, happy, happy lang.”
Ronnie has been in the entertainment industry for five years now and James and Pat and Dave serves as his 5th movie. He also starred in Vince and Kath and James with Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia in 2016, Seklusyon, Bloody Crayons, and Fantastica in 2018.
Ronnie firmly believes that James and Pat and Dave has made him more serious with his acting.
He admitted: “Kasi po dati, relax lang po ako, hindi po ako seryoso sa trabaho. Binigyan ako ng ganung kalaking proyekto, Seklusyon, VKJ, Bloody Crayons, relax. As in. Hindi pa seryoso. Well, hindi naman po ako masyadong kinakabahan, may kumpiyansa pa rin ako ng kaya natin ‘to. Pero siyempre, kabado ka dahil siguro ngayon po, seryoso po ako, nag-mature na.”
James and Pat and Dave is a sequel to Director Theodore Boborol’s Vince and Kath and James. The story revolves about James portrayed by Ronnie when he was cast out by his mother to a rural area to learn from his mistakes. He was forced to take a temporary job at a resort, where he will meet Pat (Loisa) and Dave (Donny).
