Singer Gary Valenciano stayed up all night after his home network ABS-CBN was ordered by the NTC to immediately shut down yesterday, May 5.
He also prayed for the 11,000 employees who have lost their jobs. He couldn’t believe what the NTC had done to ABS-CBN after the officials of the agency gave the assurance that the network can still operate after the franchise expired.
Gary said: “It’s 4:08am, am still in disbelief. I can’t sleep… and I probably won’t. My prayers go out to all the frontliners who continue to courageously hold the line against COVID19. For the many who have lost their jobs and the 11,000 more who’ve just been added to that list.
“As I struggle to still believe and trust a reputable organization who after giving their word of assurance while under oath… suddenly decided to do what they did while everyone is facing a time of bleakness the country has never faced before.”
As per Gary, there’s so much he wanted to express but he preferred to leave everything to God, and he hoped that the anger in his heart will be diminished. Gary also prayed for the people rejoicing over the shutdown of ABS-CBN.
He continued: “There is so much I want to express but I’m choosing to just lift and leave everything in Your hands. Help me Lord as I deal with the anger that’s brewing in me. And for those who are rejoicing over the shutdown of ABS-CBN. Lord speak to them and remind them that once upon a time, they too had a heart. Once upon a time they too experienced being helped.”

Gary’s wife, Angeli Valenciano revealed that the Filipino singer has raised P10M to help ease the troubles brought by COVID-19. But, since ABS-CBN was ordered to immediately shut down by the NTC, Gary and the 11,000 employees just lost their main source of income to support their families.

Last April 6, 2020 Gary also said that each time President Rodrigo Duterte gives his speech on national TV, opinions from netizens and politicians are everywhere, and for that, he’d like to include the President in his prayer.

Yesterday, the National Telecommunications Commission has issued a cease-and-desist order against ABS-CBN.
The decision of NTC was made right after Solicitor General Jose Calida warned NTC officials that they may face graft charges if they allowed the giant network to operate after its franchise has expired.
