It looks like the entertainment scene, particularly acting on the big screen, is well in good hands thanks to the exploits of one Elijah Canlas.
The indie film darling who recently won Best Actor at the 17th Asian Film Festival has built up quite the resumé at the tender age of 20.
He’s been in critically-acclaimed films such as Edward, LSS, and the one that gave him his Best Actor plum, Kalel, 15. It might take a while for someone to describe his acting chops, but we’ll let Jun Robles Lana, director of Kalel, 15, do the honors.

Today, Elijah is breaking boundaries and making a name for himself in the hit boys love web series Gameboys, which will soon find its way into Netflix.
Gameboys gives Elijah a chance to showcase his acting to a wider audience, something that Jun Lana knows only too well. Elijah’s been called a chameleon, taking on roles that other actors his age might shy away from.
The series allows him to explore that side of his acting and show it off in its entirety. Playing off of other talents like Kokoy de Santos (Gavreel) and Adrianna So (Pearl), Gameboys takes the boys love genre and runs away with it.
The characters are relatable thanks to how it was written and directed, and the portrayals of Elijah, Kokoy, and Adrianna all make it worth the hours you’ll probably spend binge-watching the entire series.
It was a struggle to pull of the Zoom-only style shoots because of COVID-19, but that’s what makes Elijah—and by virtue of association, Gameboys, a must-watch.
