2020 admittedly flew by with the pandemic and lockdowns halting almost every facet of human interaction in the world. From January to August, most of the global communities have been clamoring to create a sense of normalcy amidst the anxiety felt by everyone.
Since most people have to stay inside their homes, the need for entertainment sky-rocketed. Because of that, local TV programming adapted and programs returned to production.
Despite the impact of the pandemic, GMA Network seems to have a promising lineup for the Kapuso audience for 2021.
And now that we are on the last leg of our 2020 journey, here are some of the few things to look forward to with GMA Network programs.
First Yaya
First up, GMA offers First Yaya, the first top-billing role of Sanya Lopez together with Gabby Concepcion. The teleserye airs in January 2021.
Legal Wives
Then, there’s the first-ever Muslim teleserye, Legal Wives. The teleserye stars Dennis Trillo, Alice Dixson, Andrea Torres, and Bianca Umali. The story follows Ishmael, a Maranao native Muslim who falls in love and eventually marries his three wives.
Babawiin Ko Ang Lahat
Another offering from GMA Network is Babawiin Ko Ang Lahat, a heart-tugging teleserye starring Pauline Mendoza, Carmina Villaroel, and John Estrada.
Voltes V Legacy
Teased in 2019, Voltes V Legacy halted its production but still in the books for the Kapuso Network. The Filipino adaptation of the beloved anime series airs this 2021.
Lolong
There’s also the action-adventure teleserye, Lolong. Starring Ruru Madrid and breakout star Shaira Diaz.
Owe My Love
Romantic comedy Owe My Love set to premiere in 2021. It stars Lovi Poe and Benjamin Alves. The teleserye follows the funny yet kilig story of Sensen Guipit (Poe) and Doc Migs Alcancia (Alves) as their lives entwine through money and love.
Running Man
Another milestone in the Kapuso network programming is the local franchise of the South Korean variety program, Running Man. Co-produced with Korean TV Network SBS. Teased back in February, the variety show airs this 2021.
NCAA
GMA also partnered with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for NCAA Seasons 96 to 101 to bring the league’s sports events such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, and athletics.
More programs that also halted during the pandemic would hopefully resume production such as, The Seed of Love, Taiwan & Only, and Sanggang Dikit.
