The pandemic forced people to stay in their homes.

As a result, many turned their attention to their devices for entertainment. With the situation where everyone is advised to stay indoors, many people became internet sensations through different digital platforms.

For example, Mimiyuuuh, who is an internet personality even before the lockdowns, saw the number of his followers grow due to the pandemic. The internet sensation is just one of the sources of entertainment of people who were locked in the house during the pandemic.

2020 may have been a devastating year, but for some, it became their bridge to stardom as these people took the internet by storm this year.

Mona Louise Rey

First on our list is the sister of actress, vlogger, and model Ivana Alawi. Mona has made a name for herself in the YouTube community just like her older sister. According to her fans, she is adorable and charming to watch.

Her way of standing apart from her older sister is through her Instagram photos and soap opera stints showing that she can be a better actress than Ivana.

She currently has 1.2 million subscribers in YouTube.

Ida Anduyan

Ida was only a digital enthusiast who runs the blog Tete d’affiche. She then evolved into a fashion blogger, then a gamer. Before becoming an influencer and one of the most famous internet personalities this 2020, she graduated with a BA in organizational communication from De La Salle University. She is into photography, cinematography, graphic design, web design, and more.

Now, she’s an Instagram celebrity with 216K followers. She has already worked with the most sought-after brands as well as top-notch PR agencies.

Dora de Zamboanga

This funny content creator rose to stardom when he impersonated personalities like Jessica Soho and Kris Aquino and then uploaded it on Facebook. His quirky personality and the ability to mimic famous celebrities caught the attention of netizens. This led him to be featured in one of the episodes of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

Criselda Alvarez

Criselda rose to fame through her dancing. In the popular video-sharing app TikTok, she showcased her dancing skills by doing dance challenges and even creating some.

She even made a trending challenge called 2-rhyme freestyle rap challenge where she initiates a rap duo according to the topic that she gives. As of this moment, she has 3.2 million followers and 40.4 million likes on her TikTok account.

Sili Queen

Based on her name on TikTok, this pretty lady became famous for eating chilis. In all of her videos, she does dubbing while eating not one, but five red chili peppers. She eats them as if they’re nothing. As a result, people raved about her making her one of the rising stars of TikTok. She has 4.8 million followers and 103.7 million likes.

Pipay Kipay

John Paul Joseph Santos popularly known as Pipay Kipay, a civil-engineering student, rose to fame because of his portrayal of the different situations that everyone faces during the quarantine period. He has gone viral on Twitter numerous times as he made subtle but meaningful parodies regarding current situations that he sees on the news.

His goal in doing his videos is not just to spread good vibes but also awareness. That is the reason why people love him.

Dr. Kilimanguru

With the pandemic that posed such a threat, there are internet personalities who gave medical advice to their viewers. Winston Kilimanjaro Creones Ayochok Tiwaquen is the person behind Dr. Kilimanguro who shares health-related trivia and advice on TikTok. The reason why this influencer is such a hit is because of the way he gives his tips—comedy-style.

Recently, Winston passed the 2020 Physician Licensure Exam and is already on his way to become a full-fledged doctor.

Lennie Enverga

Popular with her ‘kilig’ video with Miggy Santos and Gerald Tan, Lennie rose to fame through the video-sharing app TikTok. She is a Filipino social media star with over 5.6 million followers on her TikTok account.

With her popularity on TikTok and Instagram, she made some collaborations with several brands.

Zendee Rose Tenerefe

Zendee first rose to stardom as the elevator girl when a video of her singing on an elevator became popular. With the digital platform taking over, she became a TikTok sensation when she made the #Talachallenge.

As a result, she became a TikTok sensation with over 4.9 million followers on the social media platform. She’s very consistent with her uploads and has surely kept her viewers entertained during this pandemic.

Christian Antolin

Christian Antolin is a parody, spoof, and meme creator who is behind the viral prank call with his mom. In the said viral video, he told his mother that he’s now a member of the dance group, Sex Bomb Dancers. He is behind funny videos that went viral on Facebook.

One of his parodies was with the commercial of Nescafe, where he made it seem that his goal of getting up is to borrow money. It raked 56K reactions on the social media platform.

Rose Vega

The star of the show 90-Day Fiancé season 4, Rose became such an internet hit through her funny and hilarious reactions with her partner in the show, Ed. Before dumping her fiancé, she was already an internet heroine. The reason is that she refused to succumb to a predator where she chose her dignity over a lavish life in America.

During her time onthe show, she was treated by Ed, or Big Ed as he was referred to in the show, as a gold digger who only wants a green card. However, she proved him wrong as she dumped him stating after upbraiding him for his filthy behavior.

Jhade Tadea

Jhade became a hit because of her huge similarity with the Philippine cinema’s ‘Superstar’, Nora Aunor. She even got Nora’s mole making people call her Nora Aunor doppelganger. Because of a simple photo that went viral, she was even featured in GMA’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho where she shared how she rose to fame.

Marvin Fojas

Following his passion for creating content, Marvin Fojas, who was a pharmacist, put all of his efforts into creating memes and funny skits for people to watch. His efforts paid off as people loved his stints. As a result, he gained such a following on Facebook and was even named one of the rising stars of TikTok.

Joyce Glorioso

This content creator became such a hit on the internet because of her unique dancing—no energy and expressionless. Not just her dancing appealed to the people but also the only props that she use in her videos, bananas.

She was even noticed by international singer and rapper Cardi B. when she made a dance cover of the song WAP. Cardi B. loved her, the people loved her, and the internet loved her as well.

Ponytail Girls

With their exceptional talent in dancing, they made sure that people could notice their ability to write parody songs as well. These Surigao-based girls made rounds on the internet through their dance covers of K-Pop songs.

They even showcased their creativity when they wrote the lyrics for their parody music videos. One particular song that went viral was their parody cover titled ‘Gala-gala’ which entertained netizens.

Arlene Arturato

Another exceptional dancer, Arlene goes by the name ‘Leng’ which showcased her dancing skills on TikTok. Her social media presence skyrocketed when she made a dance cover of the song ‘Catriona’ by Matthaios. As a result, she landed several collaborations from music video creators where they show Leng’s exceptional skills on the dance floor.

Rhemuel Lunio

Goes by the name DJ Loonyo, this China-based choreographer rose to fame with his hot TikTok dancing compilations. His dancing skills, paired with his good looks, make ladies drool over him.

Because of his instant success on the digital platform, his story was featured in ‘Magpakailanman‘, a show of GMA. He also won Newbie of the Year award in this year’s RAWR Awards.

Richo Bautista

The person behind the hit video “Kapitbahay Serye”, Richo Bautista went viral after his skit on Facebook became popular. Bautista is a public school teacher who, at the same time, is a content creator. The reason why his “Kapitbahay Serye” became that popular is that the scenes and situations portrayed in the skit were actually based on real-life situations in his community.

His popularity earned him an appearance in ‘Eat Bulaga!‘ and ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’, both shows in GMA.

Ericka Camata

Popular for her low budget TikTok videos, Camata created a buzz on the internet when she uploaded a video where she was heard saying, “How are you everything! How are you to find out?”. Because of her greeting, she was dubbed as ‘Ms. Everything’. The 20-year-old happy pill effortlessly makes anyone who sees her videos just smile because she’s oozing with humor.
