Seasoned actress Matet De Leon says she values working the ways she wants over fame, and she had never doubted her acting career.

During the media conference event for ABS-CBN Entertainment’s upcoming teleserye, Huwag Kang Mangamba, Matet expressed how she values and loves her acting career.

“For me now, what’s {important} is ‘yung nagagawa ko, kung ano ‘yung gusto ko. Mahal ko ang pag-aartista so para sa akin parang ‘yun na lang ‘yung importante,” said Matet.

Matet then said she doesn’t concern herself with fame, highlighting that popularity fades.

“Hindi na ko nangangamba sa kasikatan at katanyagan. Lumalamlam ang kasikatan pero yung ating ano sa showbiz,” said Matet.

Afterward, she thanked ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Entertainment for including her in the show, adding that she likes her role in the teleserye.

“So ayun, mas importante sa akin ‘yung nagagawa ko ‘yung gusto ko. And, nandito pa naman ako sa showbiz salamat sa ABS, lalo na sa Dreamscape ngayon kasali ako sa show na ‘to,” said Matet.

Matet added that she never doubted her career as an actress.

“Hindi ako nangangamba, at never akong nangamba,” said Matet.

Matet has a long-running career in showbiz, starting with her stint in the 1986 film I Love You, Mama, I Love You, Papa. She also donned Zoila, the iconic best friend, in the movies A Very Special Love, You Changed My Life, and It Takes A Man and Woman.

Moreover, she also appeared in Kapamilya teleseryes such as May Bukas Pa, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and The Legal Wife.

Matet joins the cast of the new inspirational teleserye, Huwag Kang Mangamba. The teleserye stars Gold Squad members Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin. The teleserye also includes a star-studded cast with Sylvia Sanchez, Nonie Buencamino, Mylene Dizon, RK Bagatsing, Dominic Ochoa, Diether Ocampo, Enchong Dee, Angeline Quinto, Soliman Cruz, Mercedes Cabral, Paolo Gumabao, and Alyanna Angeles.

Created by Rondel Lindayag and Danica Domingo and directed by Emmanuel Q. Palo, Jerry Lopez Sineneng, and Darnel Villaflor, the series aims to bring Bro (Jesus), faith, and inspiration back to the small screen.

The teleserye premieres on March 20 on iWantTFC and on March 22 on Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, and Kapamilya Online Live.
