As the son of a boxer-turned-politician, Senator Manny Pacquiao is not easy. Now Jimuel Pacquiao, the eldest son of Manny is entering showbiz, is he ready to show the world that he is a different person from his father?
In ABS-CBN’s launching of The Squad Plus, where the young Pacquiao is among its newest members, the son of the eight-division world boxing champion is trying his best to make his name by entering the entertainment circuit.
Although there is the pressure of being a Pacquiao, he understands his situation.
All eyes are on him, but he takes it as a challenge to build his [own] name, not just as the son of Manny Pacquiao, but as himself alone.
“The pressure is always there. Lagi na andun. Kahit na sa pagboboxing. And I think hindi naman yun maiiwasan. Kasi alam ko na maraming nakatingin sa pamilya namin. Pero I take it as a challenge and I want to make a name for myself. And I believe I can do it,” shared his Jimuel with confidence.
Now that he is entering showbiz, people get to wonder how will he step out from his father’s shadow. What is his game plan?
“It’s just being myself and trying my best in everything I do. Kasi when I do something, I’m very passionate about it,” he said.
With him doing his own thing, making his presence felt in the showbiz industry, he is hoping that people will see him differently, that he can become his ‘own’ person in the path he would be taking on.
“I’m just hoping that the people see that and not trying to copy my dad. I’m trying to do my own thing, make my own name.”
Jimuel shared that when it comes to intrigues, he is quite used to it because of his father

“Medyo sanay na ako ngayon. Ever since kasi na maliit kami, grabe na yung attention sa dad ko. So everytime he had his fights, nasasali kami sa mga interviews. And marami ring nagcocomment on social media about us.”
His jumping into showbiz, he never expected to have fans at the start of his career. During the virtual press conference, he revealed that he was surprised that there were fan pages of him on social media. Though it was an unusual thing for him, he is glad that he already has followers that are supporting him as an artist.
“It feels good na may supporters ako out there and that they’re there for me, always supporting me,” the elated Jimuel shared.
But when it comes to having a loveteam early on at this stage of his career, he admitted that he is still not ready to have an onscreen partner for the reason that he is still learning the ropes.
“Sa ngayon, when it comes to loveteams, it’s not really one of the things na pinakagusto ko. But I want to be versatile naman. I’m just waiting for opportunities.
“I still have a lot to work on and I’m still a newbie here. So easy start muna and then work my way up.”
Jimuel is among the newest addition to The Squad Plus. Apart from him, he is joined by Cherry Pie Picache’s son Nio Tria, Daniel Padilla’s cousins Analain and Ashton Salvador, and Angel Locsin’s niece Alyanna Angeles.
