Asia’s Phoenix Morissette revealed the shiniest moment of her career was her participation in Himig Handog where she sang Akin Ka Na Lang.
In the press conference for Morrissete’s Shine for its 25th year, the singer recalled being part of Star Music and interpreted the Akin Ka Na Lang.
“I was super happy at that time. Kasi, I just finished The Voice. I did not make it to the grand finals.
“Hindi ako nanalo pero parang in-open pa rin ni Star Music yung doors nila to make me a part of their family. And to ask me to interpret Akin Ka Na Lang.”
She added, “From there, I think also it’s really the song talaga. It really opened a lot of opportunities.”
Morissette also said that having an original song lifted her career as a singer.
“What really lifted me high a little more was putting out nga an original song, which is yung Akin Ka Na Lang.”
As for her career as a singer, Morissette said, “I really consider myself blessed. Blessed kasi hindi man binigay ni Lord sa akin lahat ng hiling ko meron naman syang better na pinalit.”
Akin Ka Na Lang put her on the map as her Wish Bus 107.5 exclusive performance earned over 132 Million views on YouTube.
In celebration of the 25th year of the song Shine, Morissette released her official version of the iconic ballad, which came out on Friday, May 21. It is available through Spotify and Apple Music. The music video for the song is up for release on Sunday, May 30, on Morissette’s YouTube Channel with a TV launch in ASAP Natin ‘To.
