At a media conference for the Bagong Umaga‘s finale week, Yves Flores revealed that he received an offer from Regal for a Boys Love movie.
“Before Bagong Umaga, may inoffer sila sa akin, sa Regal. Pero dahil may bagong umaga parang na-conflict yung schedule. Kasi sa panahon ngayon hindi na pwedeng sumegway katulad dati di ba? Pero may gagawin akong movie, end of May or June, pero ano sya, BL series. Pero hindi ko pa pwedeng sabihin.”
As for his growth in his acting career, he said, “sabi sa akin, mas nagmatured ako sa role ni Dodong, kasi dati puro pabibong bata na typical teenager na makulit.”
He also added that the seasoned actors on the set helped him grow as an actor.
“Siguro acting wise, mas nag-level up. Kasi kakasama ko kila ate Nikki, kuya Keempee, kila miss ‘Shine, siguro yun. Marami akong aral na napulot sa kanila. At tsaka sa mga kasama ko.”
Flores explored the BL genre when he worked on the teleserye, A Soldier’s Heart. He portrayed Benjie, who became romantically involved with his fellow soldier Phil (Jerome Ponce). Despite having supporting roles, their pairing gained a following on social media.
In light of this, many BL tandems and series have thrived during the pandemic.
