The tandem of GMA Network’s Ken Chan and Rita Daniela have been tested throughout different projects together. But, how is their relationship so far?
Well, during the Ang Dalawang Ikaw press conference (June 18), they made a promise to each other.
“Ako ang maipapramis ko kay Rita ay hindi ako mawawala sa buhay mo. Kahit na anong tahakin mo, I’m just here. Nandito lang ako,” promised Ken.
Rita, on the other hand, clarified that she and Ken value their love team because they both dreamed of reaching this milestone in their respective careers.
“‘Yung una palang din kasi eh we are very clear. Na pinangarap namin ni Ken to kung nasan kami ngayon eh. So hindi namin sasayangin ang pagkakataon.
“Lalo na yung tiwala na binibigay samin ng management. Mas mahalaga samin yung pangarap namin, yung paghihirap na pinagdaanan namin para makarating dito.
“At sobrang clear yun na gusto naming maging excellent. Gusto namin na mas makita nila yung relationship namin as co-actors. Yung maappreciate nila kung ano yung ginagawa namin,” explained the actress.
But will they take their relationship to the next level?
Apparently, Rita is afraid to be more than just friends with Ken. It’s because she will be losing her best friend. And if worse comes to worst, that the relationship will not work out, she will lose Ken.
“Kasi kapag naging boyfriend ko si Ken Chan, I will lose my best friend. So kapag hindi nag workout yung relationship, malolose ko siya, malolose ko yung bestfriend ko, malolose ko yung boyfriend ko. So ano mas pipiliin ko?” pointed Rita.
This kind of question will remain unanswered since both of them, according to Rita, are very much afraid to lose one another.
“Pero hindi natin masasagot yan. Kasi sa totoo lang hindi namin siya iniisip o pinupush. Kasi parehas kaming takot na mawala ang isa’t isa. Ayaw namin na magkaproblema kami,” she added.
But Ken is very vocal in expressing how much he loves his on-screen partner.
“In fairness to Ken Chan, sinasabi niya yun sakin. That alone is enough,” Rita revealed.
Meanwhile, Ken admitted that because he loves Rita, no matter what happens, he will always be there for her.
“Kahit na maging hindi kami, hindi ako mawawala sa buhay niya. Kasi mahal ko siya.”
“Iba yun relationship namin ni Rita eh. Nasabi ko yung hindi ako mawawala sa buhay niya kasi mahal ko siya. Napamahal na sa akin si Rita. Hindi ko siya kayang iwan kasi mahal ko siya.”
The reason why Ken said that beautiful message to Rita is because he forged a very deep connection with her.
“Maganda naman ang naging relationship ko sa mga partners ko before. Pero yung kay Rita, naramdaman ko na importante (ako) sa kanya.
“At lagi kong sinasabi kay Rita yun na napapanatili namin na mahal namin yung isa’t-isa. At yun ang pinanghahawakan ko hanggang ngayon, sa mga susunod namin na mga proyekto.
“As long as mahal namin ang ginagawa namin at love namin ang isa’t-isa. Magiging maganda nang aming career naming dalawa at dun ako proud,” he added.
Both are currently working on the upcoming series of GMA Network titled, Ang Dalawang Ikaw. It is about the struggles of husband and wife Nelson (Ken Chan) and Mia (Rita Daniela).
Nelson puts a strain on their relationship as he struggles with a dissociative identity disorder, giving birth to the existence of another person named Tyler. With Nelson’s alternate personality, he develops a relationship with Beatrice (Anna Vicente) outside his marriage with Mia.
