The Voice Kids PH’s first grand winner Lyca Gairanod takes pride in how far Darren Espanto has achieved in his career as a singer despite the latter, who only finished second to her back then.
On the newest vlog of Karen Davila, the broadcast journalist featured the current life status of Gairanod seven years after winning singing tilt.
Davila asked the singer if she has ever felt envious of Espanto being successful as a singer and a performer.
With all humility, Gairanod said that she did not feel envious of Espanto’s achievements.
“Proud po ako kay Kuya Darren kung ano yung nararating niya,” Gairanod replied.
During the contest, she thought that all of them were deserving to win the title of the first-ever of The Voice Kids PH.
“Sobrang saya ko po kasi pinapahalagahan ni Kuya Darren kung ano meron ako. Deserving kaming lahat.
“Thankful ako si Kuya Darren di ako pinabayaan,” she continued.
From a scavenger to a singing grand champion, Gairanod bagged the title of The Voice Kids PH. She received the highest percentage of public text and online votes that made her defeat Darren Espanto and JK Labajo.
After Espanto’s stint on The Voice Kids PH–he became a regular performer on ASAP.
He has released albums that earned platinum, double platinum, and gold certification–The Voice Kids: The Album (2014), Darren (2014), Be With Me (2016), and D’s Christmas (2017).
