Actor Romnick Sarmenta has confessed his family has always been doubtful about his true sexual preferences, and he got offended by how they treated him.

It was only a matter of time when a family member has confronted him about his sexuality, but Sarmenta did not like the conversation that happened.
“Dumating na sa point na even in my family I was asked by one of my uncles if I was a member [of the LGBT community] and I got offended. Not because I wasn’t or was, it was because parang it’s the way you use your words, it’s the way you talk and it’s the way your voice sounds that is offensive,” he said.
Sarmenta felt that his uncle made him feel that being part of the LGBT community is considered as taboo. He was not offended that they doubted him as part of the LGBT community, but by how condescending the words were delivered towards him.
“Parang there is something ultimately wrong with this kind of personality and I don’t want to feel like that and I don’t want to be like that and so I told myself I just won’t do it,” the actor added.
Sarmenta advised people to broaden their minds in trying to understand how things work–seeing the bigger picture of everything.
“I think it’s about time that people understand that you can’t discuss a subject singularly. Hindi puwedeng isa lang ‘yung approach. Hindi puwedeng hindi nagbabago ang pagtingin natin at paniniwala sa mga sitwasyon,” he added.
He is the father of six children, the two are males. He assured them he will be a supportive father to them regarding their decisions in life, as long as they are being true to what they feel and are not hurting themselves or others.
