Sports enthusiasts in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are in for a treat as GMA Regional TV (RTV) launches its original sports segment “Sports Synergy” — which will be seen in all its afternoon regional newscasts this September.
“Sports Synergy” is hosted by no less than sportsman Martin Javier. Regarded as one of the best sports commentators, anchors, and hosts of this generation, Martin was the main host of the NCAA Season 96 primer “Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96” and the recently concluded “Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96” together with fellow GMA Artist Center star Sophia Senoron.
The Kapuso sportsman expressed how thankful he is for this new project.
“I feel grateful to be given this opportunity,” Martin shared. “One of the main missions of introducing sports programs in GMA is to provide platforms where we can share inspiring stories of our athletes. I am ecstatic to be able to continue that mission through this special segment. In addition, I am also excited to bring our star athletes closer to the Filipinos. It’s always fulfilling to celebrate their success while highlighting their roots and humble beginnings in the places that gave them a start.”
In “Sports Synergy,” Martin gets to talk to various sports personalities whom viewers are definitely curious about—from legends sharing their inspiring sports journeys to athletes showing their preparations for their upcoming competitions.
Sports aficionados in the regions are indeed in for treat via this fresh sports segment. “Sports fans can expect the same level of energy and enthusiasm. I see it as an opportunity to give light to the different sides of an athlete’s journey. Our Kapuso fans will see the same fun-loving host, bringing life to a unique sports execution in the news broadcast,” Martin said.
“Sports Synergy” segment will be broadcast as part of the high-rating and award-winning newscasts GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan (North Central Luzon), GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak (Central & Eastern Visayas), GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas (Western Visayas), GMA Regional TV One Mindanao (North, Central, South Central, Western, and Southern Mindanao) and GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia (Bicol Region), airing Mondays to Fridays at 5 pm on GMA Regional TV channels nationwide. The segment will also be part of the Regional TV News airing Mondays to Fridays at 9:00AM, and Saturdays 10:00AM on GTV.

The launch of “Sports Synergy” comes on the heels of the highly successful mounting of NCAA Season 96 on its new home, GMA Network. “Rise Up Stronger: NCAA Season 96” showcased the remarkable resilience of Filipinos with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) becoming the first collegiate athletic league in the Philippines to safely hold a sports tournament in the time of the pandemic.
