The reigning Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo was recently introduced as the newest Kapuso star.
After her stint in pageantry, Mateo is now pursuing a career in show business.
On The Boobay and Tekla Show Facebook page, Mateo was introduced as the latest Kapuso:
“Excuse me lang!! Rarampa na sa #TBATS ang Miss Universe Philippines 2020, RABIYA MATEO! Abangan ‘yan ngayong Linggo, 10:15PM!” the caption indicated.
Mateo’s debut on the GMA Network will be showcased on an acting workshop on a segment of ‘The Boobay and Tekla Show’ along with Brenda Mage, Pepita Curtis, Ian Red, and Kitkat.
In May 2021, Mateo revealed she has plans on trying her luck on showbiz.
“I wanted to try show business. I might go into acting, I’m gonna talk to management. In the coming days, I’m gonna sign up for a network,” Mateo said in an interview.
On July 2021, via her Instagram account, Lolit Solis confirmed Mateo’s plan of joining the GMA Network.
“Pasok na daw sa GMA7 si Rabiya Mateo ang ating Ms. Universe Philippines, Salve. Bongga, may showbiz ambition pala ang beauty queen kaya naman right after matapos ang kanyang reign, heto na, showbiz na,” Solis posted.
In September 2021, Neil Salvacion, Mateo’s ex-boyfriend, might subtly have revealed that Mateo favored the Miss Universe-PH crown over him.
“Nakakalungkot man na ma-isolate ng ilang buwan, mas nakakalungkot pala na maiwan ka ng taong minamahal mo dahil sa pangarap nitong korona. Coronavirus at korona sa patimpalak ay ilan lamang sa mga hamon sa aking buhay,” Salvacion shared as he tried his luck in auditioning to become one of the new housemates in the latest season of Pinoy Big Brother.
