Established TV host Kim Atienza pointed on October 14 that in order to be a successful broadcaster, one should be passionate about it.
He said such during the virtual media conference of his upcoming Kapuso infotainment program Dapat Alam Mo!
Atienza shared how broadcasters could easily be identified whenever they are not interested in what they say.
“Dito sa aming trabaho, meron kaming kasabihan na ‘halatang nagbabasa.’ May mga broadcaster na halatang nagbabasa. Yun yung mga broadcaster na nagbabasa ng mga bagay na hindi nila alam o mga bagay na wala silang interest.”
But if a journalist expresses interest in something, Atienza said that a reporter or a host could talk even without a script.
“Pero kapag passion mo yung binabasa mo, kahit tanggalin mo ang script, pwede kang magsalita ng dalawa o tatlong minuto eh.”
Moreover, Kuya Kim stressed that a passionate broadcaster would easily stand out because the viewers would feel a “connection.”
“Eh lalo na ‘pag merong script, and they’re talking about something that they’re passionate about, doon mo makikita ang buhay sa mata ng isang broadcaster.
“Doon mo makikita na parang ‘gusto ko ‘tong taong to kasi halatang gusto n’ya ang sinasabi n’ya.’
“Passion is so important and TV is a harsh medium eh. ‘Pagka pinepeke mo at nagbabasa ka lang, halata. Pero kapag binabasa mo ang gusto mo, eh halata rin.”
