Lito Atienza admitted he showed support to his son Kim Atienza’s decision to leave the ABS-CBN network and transfer to GMA, saying it was a professional move for the latter.
In an interview, the senior Atienza revealed that he had a thorough conversation with his son, and he understood what the junior Atienza wanted in the end.
“I gave it all my support. I am a professional media man. Iyan ang pinag-aaralan ko sa UP, iyan ang aking ginagampanan ngayon,” the VP aspirant Atienza relayed what his son has said to him.
He added that the younger Atienza gave all of the support to the Lopez-owned media company. He did not leave the Network during its darkest time.
Kim inquired to his father Lito if he did the right move when he took the window of opportunity opened for him.
“Sabi ko, ‘Alam mo, Kim, as your father and I also a firm believer in loyalty ay maipakita mo na it’s about time to think of yourself.
He defended his son, saying that Kim did not desert his company men during the Network’s darkest moments.
“As a professional, tama yung desisyon ni Kim, to survive.”
