The singer and songwriter Justin Jesso has made a name for himself writing for superstars like Kygo, Ricky Martin, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, and even the Backstreet Boys! But there comes a time in many a songwriter’s life, where he or she begins feeling like some songs, they simply can’t give away for others to sing.
(“Song babies”, as the LA resident lovingly refers to those pieces.) And why should you, when you’ve not only been blessed with a talent to write, but also an amazingly melodic singing voice, an outstanding stage presence, and a personality that’s winning over the hearts of fans and followers on social media?
“Clarity”, which Justin Jesso is set to release via Sony Music Germany on January 14, 2022, is one of these song babies. The track was originally about being in a relationship and not really knowing what’s going on or where you stand, because your partner isn’t being transparent – but it has since become so much more than that: “It’s also about me finding myself,” Justin explains. “I wrote it in the middle of a pandemic. I was really stressed out, and living with my parents, and the world was shut down. I just really wanted to not consciously think about what I was writing, but rather let it all pour out of me naturally, and this is what came out. So it’s also about me finding clarity in my musical journey, and trying to figure out where I’m heading … It’s really the music that I want to be doing and the music that speaks to my soul, so it’s deeply personal to me in my journey as an artist”.
Not only as a writer, but now a vocal artist, the universe has clearly sided with Justin Jesso: His hit single, “Stargazing” with legendary artist Kygo, has garnered him hundreds of millions of streams, views, gold and platinum certifications in countries all across the world, and even a Grammy nomination! “Clarity” is his first single in a series of soon to be released tracks by Justin Jesso, and will be available via Sony Music Germany January 14, 2022.
