On January 31, Gigi De Lana highlights her debut album shows her and Gigi Vibes’ musical journey.
During the media conference for her album launch, De Lana said that the debut album showcases songs that reflect their creativity as a group.
“‘Yung album kasi is more on our influences. So parang pinapakita namin– ko sa mga tao na dito nagsimula ‘yung Gigi Vibes din. And ‘yung creativity namin na nagre-reflect sa mga ugali namin. Actually, ‘yung mga songs and sa mga pinagdaanan namin. So more on experiences ng band ‘yung ipapakita namin.”
De Lana then acknowledged how lucky she and her band was to have opportunities during the pandemic.
“Actually sobrang swerte natin, kasi hindi naman lahat nabibigyan ng ganitong opportunity. And, actually we don’t know bakit ganon. Siguro kasi we’ve through a lot din. Ang dami din namin pinursue as one, as a team. We’ve been through this before, parang hinanda namin ‘yung sarili namin sa ganitong mangyayari.”
She admitted that they felt overwhelmed with the number of projects they received after their online success.
“Nao-overwhelm kami sa totoo lang. Kasi ‘yung blessings na ‘to. ‘Yun nga uulitin ko ulit, hindi lahat nakakatanggap ng blessings eh. So hindi kasi kami nag-e-expect na magkakaroon kami ng blessings, so parang kapag dumadating siya, so excited kami. Wow mayroon kaming ganito.”
She also said that she has no plans of letting go of her band, recalling how they helped her grow as an artist.
“No po, kasi kahit gaano siya kalaki, hindi masusuklian ‘yun ng samahan namin ng Gigi Vibes. And, ‘yung artistic growth ko kasi lumabas noong kasama ko ‘yung Gigi Vibes. And everytime I’m performing, everytime I’m doing something, they give me the inspiration to be better.
“And, I’m surrounded by these talented artists, na sobra silang mag-push sa akin na kahit humiwalay ako ng konti they’re still there. Pero hindi ko sila iiwan, I will not give them up, kasi I love them so much. And, they made me Gigi today.”
De Lana and her band Gigi Vibes co-wrote several songs for the album. Their track includes O Bakit Ba, Sakalam, Nasayo Ako, Bibitawan, First Night, Topak, Isang Idlip, Letting Go, and Huling Lapit. She also has a remake of the OPM song, ‘Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita?’ in her self-titled Album.
