On February 9, some netizens noticed that the Magandang Buhay Twitter account changed their header and replaced it with the photo of Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, Jolina Magdangal-Escueta, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

The profile update sparked questions among fans whether showrunners of the morning talk show have decided to replace Karla Estrada.

Kumandidato si momsh eh so naturally she resigned from her job https://t.co/PyVccAfbZA

Some netizens recalled Magdangal-Escueta’s statement wherein she expressed the hope of having Velasquez-Alacasid morning talk show in the coming years.

In October, Estrada joined the Tingog Sinirangan as a nominee of the party-list group. Coincidentally, the current representative of the party-list is Yedda Romualdez—one of the lawmakers who partook in the rejection of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal bid in 2020.

According to Section 37 of Resolution 10730, any mass media personality running for office would have to resign from their media affiliations during the campaign period.

“Any mass media columnist, commentator, announcer, or reporter who is a candidate for any elective public office, a party-list nominee, or is a campaign volunteer for or employed or retained in any capacity by any candidate or party shall be deemed resigned if so required by their employer, or shall take a leave of absence from his/her work as such during the campaign period; Provided, that after he/she has filed his certificate of candidacy, but before the campaign period, it shall be his/her obligation not to use his media work for premature election campaign or partisan political activity: Provided, finally, that any media practitioner who, while not himself a candidate, is an official of a political party or a member of the campaign staff of a candidate or party shall not use his/her time or space to favor any candidate or party.”

That means Estrada could return to the morning show if she lost in the 2022 elections.

Earlier, Magandang Buhay announced that Velasquez-Alcasid would be joining the morning talk show as a guest co-host for February.
