On April 29, Kapamilya artist Alexa Ilacad admitted getting hurt by bashers comparing her to a Gas Tank.
Ilacad said she initially laughed the offensive tweet off but eventually got to her while taping her upcoming series with KD Estrada.
“At first, I was just laughing. Akala ko hindi ako naapektuhan. Natawa pa nga ako eh. Ba’t ko pa ba pinatulan, wala lang ‘yan. And then one day, something just triggered me really badly and I just started crying that I realized na I’m so hurt pala.
“And I chose not to show it or to mind it. I just endured it. It really hurt me in reading, but nasa taping nga ako noon eh. It [was] our last sequence for our show Run To Me, buti na lang he (KD Estrada) was there.”
Estrada then revealed why he came to Ilacad’s defense on social media, citing how much he cared for Ilacad’s well-being and mental health.
“For me, naman kasi okay, like yeah, you can just let them win, pero when it gets too much, that is when I put my foot down. And then I would defend Alexa kasi–I really do care about her well-being and about her mental health. And she’s– I know you’re really sensitive about it parang wala, sumobra na sila.”
Ilacad then addressed the bashers who kept on body-shaming the young Kapamilya artist.
“Stop it! Why? Ever since I was a kid, body-shaming doesn’t always come from bashing. It also comes from people around you without them knowing that it’s harmful to someone’s mental health and someone’s body image.”
Earlier, Star Magic announced Ilacad becoming the first-ever cover girl of the talent management arm’s digital magazine Slay. The Kapamilya artist is known for her advocacy against body-shaming.
Her popularity rose further after joining the latest installment of Pinoy Big Brother, Kumunity Season 10, wherein she became a love team with KD Estrada, forming the KDLex pair.
