OPM rapper Andrew E shared his unforgettable audition with German “Kuya Germs” Moreno.
In an interview with Toni Gonzaga on her Youtube channel Toni Talks on Sunday, June 19, Andrew recalled his memorable audition with Kuya Germs for the GMA Network Youth-oriented variety show That’s Entertainment.
According to Andrew, as he approached Kuya Germs, he was asked if he knew how to sing, dance or act. Because he’s a rapper, he said no, but still, Kuya Germs let him show what his talent is.
“Yung talent ko kasi is so unique na nagra-rap… So, sabi ni Kuya Germs, ‘Pakibigyan ng mic ‘yan. Hijo, anong gagawin mo? Teka, kumakanta ka ba?’ ‘Hindi po.’ ‘Sumasayaw ka?’ ‘Hindi rin po.’ ‘Eh, uma-acting ka?’ ‘Hindi rin po ako marunong no’n.’ ‘Eh, anong gagawin mo?’ ‘Puwede po ba ipakita ko na lang po sa inyo?” Andrew said.
Then while doing his rap performance, Andrew shared that Kuya Germs interrupted him and said, “Okay. Thank you. Next!”
He tried to explain that he was not yet finished, but Kuya Germs insisted it was already okay.
“‘Kuya Germs, hindi pa po tapos!’ ‘Hindi, hindi. Okay na!’”
Andrew also recalled a funny anecdote about Donita Rose’s audition in the same audition. He said Kuya Germs also asked Donita if she could sing, dance, or act. Although Donita answered no also, he was shocked that Kuya Germs let Donita pass the audition.
“Umupo ako. Pag-upo ko, lo and behold – Donita Rose. Tumayo. ‘Hello po.’ Tapos sabi (ni Kuya Germs), ‘Hija, do you know how to sing?’ ‘No.’ ‘Do you know how to dance?’ ‘No.’ ‘Do you know how to do acting?’ ‘No.’ ‘Do you have talent?’ ‘None.’ ‘Okay, tanggap ka na!’ Shocked ako. Sabi ko, ‘Walang talent pero nakapasa?’”
Meanwhile, although Andrew didn’t make it to That’s Entertainment he later became a famous rap artist via his hit rap song “Humanap Ka Nang Pangit” which later became his vehicle to the movie industry.
