Lorin Gutierrez, Ruffa Gutierrez’s daughter, responded to people criticizing her family after reuniting with her father, Yilmaz Bektas.
For Father’s Day celebration, Ruffa decided to bring her children, Lorin and Venice, to Istanbul, Turkey, to meet their father. The two haven’t seen their father for about 15 years. Lorin is 18 years old, while Venice is 17.
Their reunion was posted on Lorin’s YouTube channel on July 18. The 28-minute video included their journey to Turkey as well as their family dinner with Yilmaz Bektas.
Netizens then expressed their joy for the reunion of the Gutierrez sisters with their father.
Meanwhile, others criticized their family, saying they were overly dramatic with their reunion.
In the YouTube video, Lorin addresses the criticisms directed at her family. She said people shouldn’t be so quick to judge as they do not know the whole story.
“As if you know everything or as if it’s so simple, and this is this and that is that. It’s really not black and white.
“There are a lot of people giving theories or negative opinions and blah-blah-blah, whatever. Usually, I shrug off all, like, negativity or whatever because, like you know, it’s always gonna be there,” she said.
Lorin then asked people to be considerate with their words, especially since the reunion was very meaningful for her.
“We decided to share this part of our lives with you because obviously the split between my mom and dad was very public and I know that comes along with it.
“But, please, like, if you can leave a hate comment on any other piece of content that I produce, and you can say whatever you want about any other aspect of my life.
“But when it comes to this, especially like me seeing my family again, please, just be careful and be sensitive of what you do comment.
“Because this is possibly the most monumental moment of my life that I decided to vlog and share with the world. So, it’s a bit intimidating to put such a personal aspect of me out there,” said Lorin.
At the end of her video, she then talked about healing and moving forward in life.
“I want you to know that it is possible to heal those relationships, it is possible to move forward, it is possible to grow even if it feels like it’s impossible.
“The right people will come back into your life in God’s perfect timing. Obviously, there’s a lot of hurt in 15 years, but my mindset is that the past is the past.
“There’s really nothing we can do to alter or change it and I’m not the type of person to dwell on the 15 years, but instead, focus on the next 15 years,” said Lorin.
