John Prats admitted he almost transferred to the Kapuso Network due to his family’s financial needs.
On August 8, in Bianca Gonzalez’s YouTube vlog, Prats shared what he went through after almost 30 years in the entertainment industry.
“Nung nagkaroon na ako ng family—buntis na si Liv [Isabel] noon—na-realize namin na parang hindi enough yung twice a week taping para ma-sustain, or mabigay yung needs ng family mo. And then, I was about to transfer [to GMA]. Tapos, the next day, Tita Cory found out, pinigilan niya ako nung nalaman niya.”
Prats confessed he almost transferred to GMA-7 due to the incoming expenses, considering that his wife was pregnant.
“Siyempre ako, nung nalaman kong pinigilan ako, sabi ko, ‘Sige, I’ll stay.’ Siyempre gusto mo yun, kasi parang tahanan mo ‘yan [ABS-CBN] for how many years.”
After ABS-CBN chief executive Cory Vidanes prevented him from transferring, the latter became part of the cast of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
He eventually became the director of the show.
Prats said that his journey in showbiz was not easy, especially since he started at a young age.
“1992 when I joined Ang TV, siyempre bata ka pa, hindi mo naman alam. Every Saturday, we tape Ang TV, para ka lang naglalaro. Sa akin, hindi ko sineseryoso yung trabaho ko nun, nilalaro ko lang, until nag-teen ako.”
