It’s Vice Ganda!

Kapamilya host-comedian Vice Ganda emerged as the most powerful celebrity at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022.

Based on the latest partial, unofficial box office ranking, Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi’s Partners in Crime topped the list of MMFF 2022’s top grossers.

According to independent sources, the Cathy Garcia-Molina film raked in PHP30 million in opening-day box office receipts.

Several Twitter users praised Vice Ganda’s phenomenal cinematic charm after his films topped every MMFF edition in which he appeared.

@emmantoman and @iceonbughaw shared Vice Ganda’s incredible brand, citing that the majority of moviegoers just mention his name to buy tickets instead of the film’s title.

“Totoo talaga yung sinabi ni @vicegandako na hindi alam ng mga tao yung title ng movie niya. Ang sinasabi talaga sa ticket booth kapag bibili na sila ng ticket kung anong panonoorin nila, ang sagot nila, “Yung kay Vice Ganda.” #PartnersInCrime”

Vice Ganda is an every inch of the word Phenomenal. Grabe yung pila sa Partners In Crime. Kaya sana sa mga press sa showbiz tantanan nyo pagbibigay ng phenomenal kung kani-kanino. It should only be given to the artists that truly epitomizes kinembular and everything.

Several others, meanwhile, can’t help but throw shade at Direk Paul Soriano’s statement that his wife Toni Gonzaga is the current most powerful celebrity in the country.

Soriano was recently quoted as describing her wife Toni, who’s one of the lead stars in another MMFF film, My Teacher, as the “most powerful celebrity today.”

@powiecan tweeted an art card of the top 4 grossing MMFF films with the caption “My teacher is… absent (laughing emoji).”

“Hello 31 minions, pakisuportahan naman yung pelikula ni “most powerful celebrity” eh puro Kakampink yung artista nung top grossers. Paki-activate yung unity na yan.”

Same with @altabscbn, who asked Soriano to do a block screening for Gonzaga’s movie to satisfy their PR.

“Hoy @paulsoriano1017, pa block screening ka naman ng movie ni most powerful. Para sa PR niyo.”

@altcristyfermin, on the other hand, shared that even in cinemas in Toni’s hometown of Taytay, Rizal, her film is also a flop.

Kahit pala sa hometown ni shabay shabay wala yung movie nya. Hahahahahahahaha!!!! My Teacher box office sa pagiging flop! Hahaha. pic.twitter.com/EoWvoB19kQ

Partners in Crime is Vice Ganda’s latest MMFF film to make it to the top-grossing list, following Sisterakas in 2012, Girl Boy, Bakla, Tomboy in 2013, Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin in 2014, Beauty and the Bestie in 2015, Super Parental Guardians in 2016, Gandarapido: The Revenge Squad in 2017, Fantastica in 2018, and The Mall, The Merrier in 2019.

This recent success confirms Vice Ganda’s status as a true MMFF icon and an Unkabogable Phenomenal box office star.
