Director Darryl Yap called out actress Cherry Pie Picache for criticizing his work as a director.
In a report by Bandera on February 13, Picache said that she did not want to portray the role of Imelda Marcos if Yap was the director. The actress said, “Depende sa konteksto ng pelikula, sa script why not? Pero by Darryl Yap, no!”
When asked why she did not want to work under the direction of Yap, Picache said, “Ewan ko, may konsensiya pa ba siya?”
“Magpapadirek ako kung willing siyang (Darryl Yap) magsabi ng totoo tulad nga ng sinabi ni Atty. Howard, pero kung hindi salamat po pero ‘wag na lang,” she added.
In his Facebook post on February 13, Yap called out Picache saying that the actress should clarify why she does not like his film, ‘Maid in Malacañang’.
Film director Darryl Yap responded, “Tinatanong po ni Miss Cherry Pie Picache kung may konsensya pa raw ba ko dahil sa mga Marcos films na ginagawa ko.”
He furthered, “1. Alin kaya sa eksena sa #MAIDinMALACAÑANG at #MARTYRorMURDERER ang hindi totoo, napanood na ba nya ang #MIM, kasi ang #MOM ineedit ko pa. Ano sa loob ng mga gawa ko ang kasinungalingan?”
He also recalled how Picache was able to hug and forgive the killer of her mother but would choose to question Yap’s conscience.
Yap expressed, “Napanood ko kasi kung paano mo pinatawad ang pumatay sa Nanay mo, ang pagsabi mo ng magagandang bagay patungkol sa pangtanggap at pagbibigay katwiran sa mismong kriminal na pumatay sa Nanay mo— naisip ko, YUNG PUMATAY SA NANAY MO, NAYAKAP MO.
Sigurado kang may kabutihan sa kanya—Ako, na gumagawa lamang ng pelikula (na dahilan kung bakit kayo may pelikula) AKO ANG TINATANONG MO KUNG MAY KONSENSYA?”
Meanwhile, Picache has already clarified that she is not angry at director Yap but simply avoids working with him. Picache explained, “Hindi ako galit, nililinaw ko po walang personalan. It’s just that I’m just making a stand na parang ano ba (alam naman ng lahat ang totoo).
The actress concluded, “It’s his work, so, kami naman whatever expression you want to say or you want to use, this is a democratic country. Actually, tanong ‘yun, ‘may konsensiya pa ba siya?”
