On February 14, AQ Prime artist Drei Arias admitted that he experienced getting courted by gay men.
At the media conference for their digital film Baka Sakali, Arias clarified that he felt turned off by gay men who use their financial privilege to make advances on him.
“Madami dami na po. Pero, kasi–minsan kasi nakaka-off din. I mean kasi considering may mga ganong relationship tayo na gay wala problema doon, pero kung ‘yung kayo mismo gay kayo, ifro-front ninyo ‘yung money ninyo or kung ano ‘yung pwede ninyong ibigay sa tao, parang nakaka-off siya kung gusto ninyo naman magmahal lang tayo.”
He then voiced his thoughts about falling in love with someone regardless of gender.
“Wala naman pong kaso ‘yung kung sino ‘yung mamahalin natin di ba? Kaya parang hindi na dapat siya palaging nabrou-brought up na sa mga ganito kasi parang love is love, kailangan tangalin na natin ‘yung thinking na kakaiba ‘to. Normal po ‘yun na nagmamahal tayo.”
He also addressed those who question other people’s sexuality, citing that he’s confident with his sexuality.
“Ako po, kahit na po sa pageant may mga ganyan na pong mga questions kasi before pa po ako ma-discover, nanalo na po tayo sa Vietnam ng Mr. Culture World, 2019. Marami na pong nagsasabi kaya nasanay na lang ako and kung confident po ako sa sexuality ko, bakit ko kailangang patulan.”
Earlier, Arias confirmed that he identifies as genderfluid.
As for their film, Arias stars in Baka Sakali with Leandre Adams, Seon Quintos, and April Gustillo.
Under the direction of Alejandro ‘Bong’ Ramos, Baka Sakali is currently streaming via the AQ Prime app.
