Award-winning actor Paolo Contis finally confirmed his relationship with actress Yen Santos after months of speculation and sightings together.
In an interview with TV host Boy Abunda on January 30, the actor explained that Santos was not the reason why he and LJ Reyes broke up.
Contis was previously in a 6-year relationship with another actress LJ Reyes. He explained that their relationship simply fell apart.
“Hindi. Somehow, medyo matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ. Pero we were together of course. Napapadalas yung away and everything, I think it’s a combination of the stress sa pandemic. One of my biggest mistakes was hindi ko inalala yung mental health ni LJ, isa yun sa feeling ko naging simula ng downfall namin,” he said.
Contis also explained that he often failed to tell Reyes about his whereabouts which also became a factor in why they broke up. He shared, “Yung pagdidiskarte ko ng sarili ko. Hindi ko na iniinform sa kanya ‘yung mga bagay-bagay which led to bigger problems… hindi kami nag-uusap ng maayos.”
He finally admitted that he and Santos are now in a relationship.
Relationship rumors between Contis and Santos started in September 2021 when they were spotted in Baguio together. The actor just broke up with his 6-year girlfriend LJ Reyes, and he spent three days in the city with Yen’s company. Contis and Santos were spotted together multiple times like when netizens saw them in Baguio back in September 2021. Reyes had already publicly admitted that her relationship with Contis was over at that point.
Contis explained that when he and Santos were spotted in Baguio, they were simply friends at the time.
“Yung as a friend, yung nag Baguio kami ni Yen, nasa States na sila LJ nun. Nag mukhang baliktad because your interview with LJ came out. Pero wala na kami sa Baguio nun so feeling ng tao, habang iniinterview si LJ, nasa Baguio ako. At least ten days na sila ng nasa States,” he said.
Regarding his current relationship with Santos, Contis said that he is aware that they cannot get everyone’s approval.
The actor explained, “Sa amin kasi kumbaga is what you see is what you get naman eh. Di naman namin pwede ipilit yung tao to be happy for us, di naman namin pwede ipilit ‘yung mga tao na paniwalaan yung gusto nilang paniwalaan sana lang isipin nila na kung ano lang yung nakikita nilang naka-post, ‘yun lang y’ung truth na alam nila.”
They were spotted again in December 2021 in Boracay, reigniting the issue behind their ‘relationship.’
