The seasoned dramatic actress has nothing but excitement and pride for the success of his son, Donny, and his career.
Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan is as proud as any parent can be of their children, especially now that her son, Donny Pangilinan, and his onscreen partner, Belle Mariano, are regarded as two of today’s fastest-rising young stars.
We had the chance of asking her about her comeback, during our two-day set visit to the show’s production locations in Cebu, on February 6 and 7. Recalling the time she decided to return to acting after a decade-long pause, the 52-year-old actress credited her decision to make a comeback to Donny, whom she revealed convinced her to accept the KathNiel film, Hello Love Goodbye, when it was offered to her.
The Iron Heart also notably marks Laxa-Pangililinan’s return to doing an action, which, according to her, is much easier than doing drama. Does she see her son, Donny, also venturing into action in the future? The actress hints at such a possibility but notes the moment as DonBelle’s time to shine as a love team. DonBelle is the team up of her son, Donny, and his partner, Belle Mariano.
“I think what’s important is that, there are seasons in a person’s career.and right now this is that moment where it’s their (DonBelle) season. We are allowing him to do other things, pero mga surprise na ‘yun,”
Refusing to comment on the possibility of seeing her son and Mariano becoming real-life partners, she insisted that she and her entire family are happy to see DonBelle achieve popularity and success.
“We see them as friends and business partners, and also…they’re good together as a team. Natutuwa ako, nakikita ko na marami silang nai-inspire,” she said.
Given her experiences in show business, Laxa-Pangilinan has unsurprisingly absorbed so many of life’s greatest lessons. Does she constantly advise her son about life, career, and love life, based on what she has gone through? She said that it was the other way around.
“Siya naman ‘yung palaging nag-reremind sa akin. For me, what’s important is that Donny’s feet are on the ground, and whatever he pursues, he would trust in the Lord and always pray,” she noted.
