On May 4, Kapuso fashion icon Heart Evangelista admitted that she’s afraid of the pains that come with aging.
At the media event for her endorsement deal with ZION Philippines, which LionhearTV covered, Evangelista explained that while she dreads the pain of aging, she doesn’t fear other aspects of growing older.

“Of course, I’m afraid of aging. I’m afraid of feeling pains that I didn’t feel before.
“I’m not so afraid of aging–aging because I feel like it’ll be our fault if we don’t see what’s out there, things that are developing.”
She also noted the recent scientific developments that promote health.
“You have stem cell, a lot of these things. So, it’s [really] up to you if you really want to do the research, but I don’t want to get sick– because you know, health is wealth, kahit gano pa kadaming pera, kung magkakasakit ka mahihirapan ka. Kayang-kayang mag-ipon ulit basta healthy ka. So this is my number one goal, it’s health.”
Aside from that, Evangelista also discussed how she grew from being a people pleaser to someone who values self-love.
“Yes, definitely. When you’re younger, you don’t really think–I think we’re more of a people pleaser when we/we’re young–we want to be accepted. I mean, I still want to be accepted, but then because of all the struggles in life, you realize your self-worth, so then your self-care or the way you love yourself also changes.
“So you kind/ of bringing up a notch all the time, in terms of vitamins, again investing in yourself, making the /smart choices where you’re going to invest your money because you’re working hard. So it goes up– higher and higher, as you realize how valuable you are to yourself. So definitely, it changes.”
She also surmised how she matured and became more independent at 38.
“I’ve come a long way. I feel like– before, I would say I’m 30 ganyan, but I have a mind of a 21-year-old. I’m 38, but I feel like I have the mind of a 50-year-old. I feel like I had a lot of learning to do with my job.
“I feel like I’m on top of everything. And I love being on top of everything. I like the feeling na you can drop me off anywhere, and I will survive. You know, I never used to travel by myself, but now I travel by myself.
“Iniiyakan ko ‘yung connecting flight sa Dubai, ‘yung train, ay umiyak na ko, puno na ko ng pantal before, now I can do anything. Anything you want.”
