ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime has proved to be one of the country’s noontime institutions after moving back to its original timeslot at noon.
Starting Monday, May 1, Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime will go back to its original timeslot at 12 high noon. It’s the timeslot the program has held since 2010.
It’s Showtime’s noontime comeback was made possible after Brighlight Productions’ Tropang LOL ceased its programming on Saturday, April 29.
It’s Showtime, and Tropang LOL started its back-to-back noontime tandem on July 16, 2022.
However, after 10 months of noontime partnership, Tropang LOL bowed down due to poor ratings, paving the way for It’s Showtime to slide back to its original timeslot.
Since the start of the pandemic and the eventual shutdown of ABS-CBN in 2020, It’s Showtime has struggled quite a bit to find its footing in noontime programming.
Airing solely on ABS-CBN’s digital platforms and the cable channel Kapamilya Channel, It’s Showtime slowly got back on its feet after finding its new free TV home on A2Z Channel 11 in October 2020 following ABS-CBN and Zoe Broadcasting Network’s block time agreement.
In less than two years, It’s Showtime found another free TV home after it debuted on TV5 in July 2022. However, they were pushed to the 12:45 slot since TV5’s original noontime show Tropang LOL occupied the 11 a.m.–12:45 p.m. timeslot.
And now, with Tropang LOL’s exit from the noontime line-up, It’s Showtime has made a sweet comeback to the timeslot where madlang people loved it the most.
