Several Kapamilya personalities took to social media to commemorate the 3rd year anniversary of the ABS-CBN broadcast shutdown.
On May 2, 2020, ABS-CBN was compelled to sign off the air following the cease-and-desist order from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
In his tweet on May 5, Kapamilya star Jake Ejercito highlighted ABS-CBN’s resilience despite efforts by certain politicians to “kill and bury” the Network.
“A win for insecure and sycophantic politicians and a loss for Filipinos the world over— but we’re still here.”

TV Patrol anchor Kabayan Noli De Castro also commemorated the day when he announced on TV Patrol that the network was shutting down.
“Tatlong taon na. Tinutupad po namin na hindi kami mananatiling nakatikom ang mga bibig.. itutuloy pa rin po namin kung ano ang aming ginagawa, may mga paraan.. salamat na lamang po sa teknolohiya, dahil nandito pa rin kami”
MOR 101.9 DJ Jhaiho also relived that painful memory of May 5 tweeting “OMG May 5 ngayon. Hala.. Nanumbalik ang lungkot. sorry na. Ito yung araw na nag sign off ako sa MOR 101.9 Tatlong taon na”

Meanwhile, Kapamilya broadcast journalist Alvin Elchico shared his recollection of the ABS-CBN shutdown, noting how he missed sitting in their DZMM booth.
“Three years ago, @DorisBigornia and I were the last to broadcast for DZMM 630 before the NTC shut us down. We miss the days na pagsampa mo sa sasakyan 630 khz, matik na. Haaay naku! Ambilis nga ng panahon!”

Kapamilya resident meteorologist Ariel Rojas and former Kapamilya employee Erwin Aurella, meanwhile, noted how ABS-CBN continues to thrive despite losing its franchise and finding new homes in different media platforms.
“Nagpapatuloy at nananatili. Andito pa rin kami para sa inyo, Kapamilya!” Rojan tweeted.

“As one of the 11,000+ employees retrenched due to ABS-CBN’s shutdown, It makes me happy and proud seeing former Kapamilyas thriving in new life adventures: New jobs, new industries, new businesses, new countries… Even ABS-CBN is thriving as a content creator and producer…” Aurella wrote.

While several politicians tried to silence and kill the Kapamilya network by denying its broadcast franchise, the Network eventually stood up stronger and still determined to fulfill its promise of serving the Filipino people worldwide.
With its exit from the free TV arena in 2020, ABS-CBN continues to grow stronger with its digital presence and its collaboration projects with different networks like A2Z, TV5, and GMA Network, as well as various digital streaming platforms like Netflix and VIU.
