On June 8, director Mark Sicat Dela Cruz expressed his strong belief that the cast of LUV IS: Love at First Read would be the next big Kapuso stars.
At the media conference for ‘LUV IS: Love at First Read, which LionhearTV covered, Dela Cruz recounted how he motivated and taught the young Kapuso artists during their workshop.
“Sinimulan namin ‘yung bonding namin from the workshop and from there sinabi ko sa kanila na one day, sila na ‘yung mga magiging Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Dennis Trillo.
“So sinimulan namin sa kung paano maging disiplinado sa set, sa co-actors, sa screen, so ‘yun siguro ‘yung tinuro namin ng associate director ko tsaka nila Miss Winnie at ni sir Dennis na buuin muna namin ‘yung pamilya namin na solid kami.”
He then detailed how they support each other, especially for the first-timers like the Gueco Twins and Mariel Pamintuan.
“Para kung ano man ‘yung hirap or whatever na problem ang– kapag nagte-taping, kapag hindi kaya ng isa, supportive ‘yung isa, kapag may question ‘yung kambal dahil bago sila, isu-support ni Bruce, kapag ‘yung si Mariel, hindi nakukuha, nandiyan si Pam para tuktukan siya.”
Dela Cruz then pointed out how easy it was to teach the new artists featured in their upcoming romantic comedy series.
“Doon naman sa mga baguhan, thankful ako kasi nakikinig sila. Lalonglalo na sila Vito at tsaka si Kiel, first timers. The rest I’ve worked with, of course, Mavy and Kyline sa akin sila nag-start sa I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, and Therese, naka-work ko na rin dati.”
LUV IS: Love at First Read, the upcoming Kapuso romantic comedy series stars Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara.
The cast also features a mix of new GMA artists and seasoned actors, such as Josh Ford, Pam Prinster, Bruce Roeland, Larkin Castor, Therese Malvar, Mariel Pamintuan, Gabby Gueco, Kiel Gueco, Marco Masa, Maricar De Mesa, Jackie Lou Blanco, and Jestoni Alarcon.
Under the direction of Mark Dela Cruz, the Kapuso adaptation of Chixnita’s Wattpad novel premieres on June 12 via GMA Network.
