Philippine showbiz icon Jolina Magdangal caught netizens’ reactions after posting her achievements on her Instagram account last June 14.

The post featured a screenshot of a tweet announcing Magdangal, along with Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Jaya, being the only Filipino female artists that sold 200,000 copies of two or more of their albums.
Magdangal posted the screenshot with the caption, “Awwwwwwwwww!!!!! Kiliiiiiiig!!! Mga ate ko yan!!!!! Love you Ate @reginevalcasid and Ate @jaya ❤️❤️❤️”.

The post got over 6,000 likes on Instagram and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
Melai Cantiveros, Magdangal’s co-host on ‘Magandang Buhay’ commented, “Thats my friends ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Jaya, the other recipient of the achievement, also commented on Magdangal’s post. “Ay bongga!!! Honored to be in your company my loves ❤️❤️❤️,” the singer remarked.
A fan commented, “true POP ICON! icon on or off cam… one of the artist na may magandang character that most of the gen z’s ay Wala…true POP ICON! icon on or off cam… one of the artist na may magandang character that most of the gen z’s ay Wala…”.
While the star’s post was celebrated by her fans and loved ones, there were also netizens who had negative reactions to the post.
“Bakit di na lng manahimik. Si Japs tahimik lng hndi namn nya kiniclaim ang title at madaming pop icon sa Pinas hindi lng nmn ikaw. Triggered tlga lola mo,” one user commented.
Another comment read: “Bilang 90s kid nilu-look up ko pa naman kayo ng sobra at hanga ako sa craft nyo. But why naman you stoop down your level? You were legends in your own generation. Anong nasama kung may bagong icon? Queens must support queens👑 and theres nothing wrong if may rising star sa generation ngayon, what happened to you? This is Disappointing and sad 😞.”
Another user also remarked, “With all due respect Ms. Jolina Magdangal, please do something about the bullying happening on twitter. I think once you speak up and defend Julie Anne San Jose, it will stop. I am happy for you that all your achievements are being recognized and acknowledged but it has become a huge and wild bullying against Julie Anne San Jose on twitter and it’s been going for how many days now. She never claimed it was her title, it is a teaser title for the voice. She has been so silent all through out the bullying online, it is so alarming and unnecessary all of this attacks against her. She didn’t do anything wrong at all. I am so worried for her mental health. I respect you, but this needs to stop, it’s too much, seriously, it’s too much already. @mariajolina_ig”
The post earned many more comments criticizing Magdangal’s post.
To recall, a twitter fan war recently broke out after the ‘Asia’s Limitless Star’ Julie Anne San Jose was previously dubbed as the ‘The Pop Icon Coach’ for GMA’s ‘The Voice Generations.’
This sparked a debate on twitter as ‘Pop Icon’ is a title held by Magdangal because of her achievements and popularity.
Many fans of Magdangal claim that she is the only ‘Pop Icon.’
“who even is julie ann?? MS JOLINA MAGDANGAL WAS A TREND SETTER. SHE IS THE POP ICON OF THE PHILIPPINES,” one fan tweeted.

Fans of San Jose, however, did not sit still and defended the star.
“If she has to discuss her success then she isn’t really successful, that’s plain self-bragging. Julie Anne San Jose is too humble to brag. Secured sya sa talents nya, she does not need to prove anything to anyone. Let her achievements speak and numerous praises to make the noise,” a San Jose fan tweeted.

The debate got heated as fans of both sides claimed one is better than the other.
The issue further blew out of proportions after Cantiveros and Magdangal’s exchange on the set of ‘Magandang Buhay’ last June 14. In the show, the hosts were holding placards that say, ‘Malaya ako.’
Cantiveros passionately declares, “Malaya rin kame ritong sabihin na ikaw talaga ang tunay na Pop Culture Icon.”
The host’s remarks on the show made rounds on social media as San Jose’s side thought it was a snide comment on the ongoing fan war.

This exchange in ‘Magandang Buhay’ and Magdangal’s Instagram post spurred many negative remarks from the netizens that accused Magdangal of elaborately fanning the bashing of San Jose.
“Jolina Magdangal enjoying being called the “true” pop icon by her friends and fans today despite knowing it started from a fandom war and got Julie bullied doesn’t sit right with me. I cannot respect her anymore,” one tweet reads.

Magdangal rose to fame after being discovered in ‘Ryan Ryan Musikahan’ while performing as one of the members of the singing group 14-K. Her discovery led to her appearance in multiple television shows such as ‘Abangan Ang Susunod Na Kabanata’ and ‘Ang TV,’ and in films such as ‘Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang?’ and ‘F.L.A.M.E.S’ opposite Marvin Agustin.
She was also the first Filipino recording artist to sing Disney classic theme songs for their Philippine promotion, and even released a successful album ‘A Wish Comes True’ under Walt Disney Records.
