Renowned acting veteran Kakai Bautista earned her spotlight on Facebook after posting that she doesn’t need men to be happy, on June 5.
She wrote: “Minsan gusto din talagang lumandi at mamamsin ng lalake pero kapag naiisip ko yung mga bayarin, gusto ko pang ma-achieve para sa sarili ko, NAGIGISING ako sa KATOTOHANANG di ko kailangan ng LALAKE para sumaya. KAILANGAN ko PERA. (emoji)”
The post earned over 5,000 reactions and 300 shares on Facebook. In the over 300 comments under the post, netizens responded and commented.

While some opposed Bautista’s opinion, others agreed with her.

Bautista, later on, replied to her own post reacting to the other comments on her post. She claims that she would not let herself depend on a man, especially on finances. She argues that she wants a relationship where she’s richer than her partner.

Shortly after, Bautista released another viral Facebook post explaining her side. She still believes in love but also believes that financial stability is still significant in a relationship.
She wrote, “Don’t get me wrong, naniniwala padin ako sa Wagas na Pag-ibig. Di na nga lang ako niniwala na kaya kang buhayin ng PAG-IBIG lang. Both men and women should be financially independent and stable before going into a serious relationship or marriage. BAKIT?”
Bautista further explained in her post that she doesn’t want to fight with her future partner over financial problems like expenses on a date and the like.
She also emphasized that women should be financially independent. This is because it is significantly more difficult for a woman to survive after separation if she’s financially dependent on her partner.
She concluded her post with, “Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Stability is the KEY to HAPPY inter-personal relationships whether it is ROMANTIC or PLATONIC. So, PagHANDAAN mo ang TUNAY NA PAG-IBIG!”
