On July 14, comedienne-host Awra Briguela seemingly remained silent days after getting arrested for a scuffle and later posting bail.
Since her release, Briguela and her lawyer Atty Jose Protacio Sandoval Medalla refrained from releasing any official statement about the incident and the cases filed against the actress.
Briguela posted bail worth P6000 on July 1 with a release order issued by Executive Judge Gina Bibat-Palamos of the Makati Regional Trial Court.
On June 30, Briguela got arrested after getting into a scuffle with her friends and a group of men outside the BoltHole Bar in Poblacion Makati City.
Celebrities, personalities, and netizens rallied around the 19-year-old comedienne and host after the video of her arrest went viral.
The popular spin on the story was Briguela was defending one of her female companions who allegedly got harassed while in the bar in Poblacion Makati.
As a result, netizens, celebrities, and personalities rallied behind Briguela after the seemingly unjust arrest.
Then, Mark Christian Ravana, one of the men who allegedly harassed one of the comedienne’s friends, claimed that Briguela and her companions assaulted him their companions after he refused their request to strip. He later on filed a case against the comedienne.
Content creator Zayla Nakajima posted on Instagram Story to share her version of the story supporting the claims that Briguela was trying to defend one of their friends after getting sexually harassed.
Senator Raffy Tulfo then went on his program ‘Raffy Tulfo in Action’ calling out the arrest.
However, a showbiz reporter posted a copy of the CCTV video from the bar, supporting Ravana’s claims.
Briguela then paid the bail and got released from prison by July 1.
The Kapamilya host-comedian Vice Ganda had the comedienne picked from Makati City’s detention facility through Ion Perez’s assistant. Briguela has been out of the public eye ever since.
Showbiz reporter Cristy Fermin lauded Vice for supporting Briguela while not condoning the young comedienne’s behavior.
