A recent incident on the ‘Vortas 5’ segment of the TV show ‘E.A.T.’ on TV5 has ignited discussions on social media due to a contestant’s double-meaning comment.

This episode occurred amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the 12-day suspension imposed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on the popular program ‘It’s Showtime.’
In a video that has since gone viral, a male contestant participating in the ‘Vortas 5’ segment was interviewed by the show’s hosts, Allan K and Miles Ocampo. During the interview, the contestant made remarks that seemed to carry a suggestive connotation.
The exchange began with Allan K inquiring about what one of the two contestants had been doing lately. The male contestant replied that he used to work as an elementary school teacher, which elicited enthusiastic cheers from the studio audience.
Reacting to the contestant’s response, Miles Ocampo remarked, “Magaling sa bata ‘to.”
Allan K added, “Mapagpasensya. Mahaba ang pasensya.”
The male contestant responded in a playful tone, “Opo mahaba ‘to.”
The atmosphere in the studio suddenly grew tense as everyone fell silent. The male contestant appeared surprised by the reaction. Allan K was the first to break the silence, clarifying that the contestant was referring to his patience and playfully tapping the contestant’s arm.
Miles Ocampo concurred, saying, “Mahaba ang pasensya siyempre bata ‘yon.”
The video has circulated widely on social media, initially shared by an account under the name Anima Cristi Fermin. The caption accompanying the video reads, ““Mahaba to” Walang malisya yan . Pwede sa mga jugets na nanonood. Lala at MTRCB walang makitang double meaning!”

The recent decision by the MTRCB to suspend ‘It’s Showtime’ has sparked diverse reactions, with many expressing their views that the suspension is unjust and unfair. Furthermore, critics have directed criticism at MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto, alleging bias due to her family ties, particularly her parents, Tito Sotto and Helen Gamboa, who are associated with the TV5 program ‘E.A.T.’
Chair Lala has clarified that the resolution against ‘It’s Showtime’ followed the proper procedural steps and underwent a due process. The MTRCB is currently awaiting the verdict regarding Wally Bayola’s use of profanity during the ‘Sugod Bahay’ segment on ‘E.A.T.’
