Numerous online users express their strong disapproval of the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board’s (MTRCB) decision to impose a 12-day suspension on the Kapamilya noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
On Monday, September 4, the MTRCB handed down a 12-day suspension to “It’s Showtime” due to allegations of indecent acts and occasional use of inappropriate language on the show.
However, this decision has triggered an outpouring of frustration from outraged netizens who have labeled it as absurd and, in some cases, unintelligent.
Using skull emojis and the hashtag #AbolishMTRCB, the Twitter account @altstarmagic shared a video interview of MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto with her soundbite,“My basis would be my spiritual conviction.”

Similarly, @binsenzocassano criticized the MTRCB for perceived hypocrisy, particularly in seemingly granting other shows, especially one hosted by the MTRCB chair’s father, a free pass.
