Christian Bables is on a mission to captivate audiences and clinch prestigious awards with his latest project, ‘Broken Hearts Trip,’ featured in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023.
The film delves into the tumultuous love lives of five LGBTQIA+ individuals. Sharing the spotlight with Christian are Teejay Marquez, Andoy Ranay, Marvin Yap, Jay Gonzaga, Ron Angeles, Argel Saycon, Simon Loresca, Petite, Iyah Mina, Tart Carlos, Arnold Reyes, and the illustrious Jaclyn Jose. The movie, helmed by director Lemuel Llorca, promises to be a riotous, heartfelt comedy.
During the press conference on November 4 held at Quezon City’s Fin and Claw Restaurant, Christian was asked to weigh the importance of commercial success against winning accolades.
The versatile actor found it challenging to prioritize one over the other. On the one hand, he expressed his aspiration for ‘Broken Hearts Trip’ to resonate with the public and make a significant impact at the box office.
He conveyed his wish to provide a return on investment for the film’s dedicated producers.
On the other hand, Christian acknowledged the significance of awards and recognition. He emphasized that the film’s production involved an immense amount of effort, both from the talented cast and the dedicated crew.
Notably, Christian was awarded Best Actor at the MMFF in 2021 for his role in ‘Big Night.’
Despite his prior success, Christian maintains humility and doesn’t expect to secure an award this time around. However, he emphasized that the film’s poignant exploration of heartbreak and the LGBTQIA+ experience held deep personal resonance.
In the past, Christian has confronted the emotional turmoil of heartbreak but was able to overcome it, thanks to the unwavering support of friends and family.
Currently, Christian’s heart remains unscathed. He humorously noted that no one has succeeded in making his heart skip a beat. With his unwavering focus on work and promoting ‘Broken Hearts Trip,’ which premieres on December 25, Christian’s journey is poised to be an exciting one.
