On October 4, Kapamilya stars Kobie Brown and Andi Abaya detailed their experience with their first theater production, ‘Tabing Ilog: The Musical.’
At the media conference for ‘Tabing Ilog: The Musical,’ which LionhearTV covered, Brown discussed the pressure and excitement of his venture into his first theater role as James.
“I’m playing James also, nakaka-pressure naman po. Pero, excited naman ako at the same time. Since this is my first theater project–I make sure binibigay ko na lang ‘yung best ko, and I’m thankful na, you know, I have a lot of people around me. A lot of people around me to help me–to support me, so salamat sa inyong lahat, guys.”
Abaya highlighted the difference in acting between TV and theater productions.
“Honestly, there is a lot of pressure. It’s my first time doing theater, sanay po ako sa television, sa movies, so the set up is different, ang theater kasi, one take lang lahat for the whole show.
“You can’t have another take, you can’t have close-up shots, you have to use all of your body, you have to use all your emotions, And you have to be vulnerable.
“Those are all the things I’m still learning, and I’m still honing myself, para maka-deliver din ako for everyone here.”
Abaya then noted her preparations for her role as ‘George.’
“And I’m so grateful na nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon para mas matuto pa, at para mas mag-grow pa bilang isang artista. And you know if the original cast would watch us, it would be such an honor to show everything we have prepared for and everything that we are preparing for, and yeah, sa aming mga Kapamilya, sa mga manonood, sana ma-enjoy ninyo din and you would love the show that we will be showing all of you.”
‘Tabing Ilog: The Musical’ opens at PETA Theater starting November 10, 2023, and runs until December 17, 2023.
The theater production features Andi Abaya, Kiara Takahashi, Jordan Andrews, Kobie Brown, Anji Salvacion, BGYO’s Akira Morishita, JL Toreliza, BINI’s Jhoanna Robles, Sheena Belarmino, Vivoree, and Benedix Ramos.
Joining them are Omar Uddin, Chaye Mogg, Drei Sugay, Vino Mabalot, Earvin Estioco, Jude Matthew Servilla, Miah Canton, Teetin Villanueva, Neomi Gonzales, Lance Reblando, Red Nuestro, and Joann Co.
