Jennylyn Mercado and Xian Lim offered insights into the lighter moments they experienced while filming the highly anticipated teleserye.
During the grand media conference for the show, the duo engaged in a conversation about the fun and enjoyable aspects of working together, offsetting the intense drama portrayed in the series. The discussion turned to a humorous incident involving Jennylyn making Xian laugh during a scene that required him to maintain a serious demeanor.
Recalling a particular scene set in a morgue where Xian was depicted topless but covered with a blanket, Jennylyn shared that, unexpectedly, Xian found the situation ticklish. She playfully narrated, “Yung patay, sinisiko ako!”
Xian joined in the laughter and explained the challenging shooting conditions, mentioning that he had to suppress his amusement while Jennylyn and another cast member were engrossed in a crying scene.
He elaborated, “Nakahiga lang ako. Sabi ni Direk Jerry, ‘Huwag ka muna huminga, Xian! Nakikita kita! Puwede ba tumigil ka! Kasi ang hirap ng eksena, nagmamadali na lahat. Si Jennylyn and my mom (ginagampanan ni Shyr Valdez) are crying. Si Jen (nakahawak sa chest ko). Hirap na hirap ako kaya sinisiko ko na lang siya paalis. Yun yung little moments na may bloopers.”
“Mahirap talaga siya na teleserye. It’s really a drama. Tungkol sa pinagdadaanan ng mag-asawa at pamilya.”
Jennylyn added that moments of humor and bloopers were essential on set to lighten the mood, particularly after emotionally charged scenes. Xian underscored the difficulty of teleserye production, emphasizing that the series revolves around the challenges faced by couples and families.
‘Love. Die. Repeat.’ marks Jennylyn Mercado’s return to primetime after a hiatus of over two years. The series began taping in September 2021, but production was temporarily halted when Jennylyn learned of her pregnancy. Filming resumed last year, and Jennylyn admitted feeling nervous and scared about returning to acting.
Xian Lim expressed his joy at the opportunity to work with Jennylyn Mercado, revealing that he was a fan of hers during his youth. He shared that seeing her name on notebooks during his younger days made the experience of working with her surreal. Despite the initial awkwardness, they found joy in the moments on set and maintained a positive atmosphere.
‘Love. Die. Repeat.’ is set to premiere on January 15 at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Telebabad. The series also features Victor Anastasio, Mike Tan, Ina Feleo, Nonie Buencamino, Malou De Guzman, and Shyr Valdez.
