On January 11, content creator NinjaJannine recounted her journey in Bigo Live Philippines and how she overcame the struggles during her early years on the platform.
At the Bigo Philippines Awards Gala 2023, which LionhearTV attended, NinjaJaninnine narrated how she began with the platform, citing how she resourcefully overcame her limitations when she started streaming.
“I started Bigo since pandemic, wala akong magawa, and I was a fresh graduate back then. I didn’t know what to do with my life, sabi ko, ano kayang gagawin ko sa life ko. But then, someone introduced Bigo to me.
“I started Bigo na scotch tape lang ang puhunan. You know why because uso sa atin ‘yung mga phone holder, dati kasi I didn’t invest much in Bigo, kasi feeling ko I wouldn’t last here, so I was actually enjoying my content, so ang ginagawa ko, kasi I didn’t come from a rich family, although, I can my family then. But hindi kami into some technical things, parang for me, ang hirap bilhin ng phone holder eh.”
She noted how she would use alternative means of creating quality content despite lacking equipment when she started with Bigo Live.
“So what I did is, everyday when I stream, nilalagay ng scotch tape ‘yung phone ko, nilalagay ko sa window namin. So every time, mag stream ako, kailangan ko bumili ng scotch tape, scotch tape, and then ring light, ang alternative ko sa ringlight ay flourescent lamp. Hinaharap ko ‘yun sa mukha ko, even though I feel like nakakasira ‘to sa mukha, but I just feel like. I have to do Bigo.
“And of course, my phone back then was iPhone12, but ‘yung iPhone na ‘yun may scratch siya sa likod na camera, so what I did to have a bit of quality like, ginagawa ko ay pinapaliwanag ko ‘yung flourescent lamp sa mukha ko so that I could have a better quality, so doon ako nag-start. I didn’t have any gaming chair, sa bed lang din ako, my background was white, that’s it.”
