Donald Lapez, representing Mr. Bear Philippines 2022, emerged victorious in the first-ever Mr. Bear International pageant held at the Holiday Inn in Bangkok, Thailand.
Outshining 11 other contestants from diverse backgrounds, Lapez secured not only the prestigious title but also a $1000 prize from the organizing committee. The first runner-up position was claimed by Newsan Nadol Na Bangchang from Thailand, while the second runner-up spot went to Dave Nguyen representing Vietnam.

Among the top five finalists were representatives from Austria, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Korea. Korea secured the fifth position, with Thailand Tar and Austria following in fourth and third place, respectively.
Held amidst the festivities of the Songkran Festival, the event brought together 12 bears from around the world to celebrate a new definition of masculinity. It aimed to promote body positivity, foster international solidarity, and cultivate a sense of bear brotherhood, transcending conventional norms of physical appearance.
Embracing the ethos of being a “bear at heart,” the pageant welcomed participants regardless of body size, body hair, or sexual orientation. Straight men were encouraged to compete, provided they embraced the spirit of bearhood and demonstrated inclusivity alongside their gay counterparts, as well as other participants.
Contestants showcased their talents and confidence across five categories: National Costume, Beachwear, Smart Attire, Formal Wear, and the Question & Answer segment.
Founded by Mr. Vajira Somlim in Bangkok, Thailand, Mister Bear International represents more than just a traditional pageant; it symbolizes a celebration of masculinity in all its forms.
