The actress noted the different and challenging roles, she has so far done under ABS-CBN.
During the grand press conference for the highly-anticipated Kapamilya drama, Lavender Fields, we were able to ask Janine Gutierrez, on comments about her being a better actress under ABS-CBN. Only her fourth role as a Kapamilya star, Iris Buenavidez showcases a 360° turn, from her previous role, Alexa/Mila in Dirty Linen, where she played a group of feisty people trying to exact vengeance from tyrannical elites. In Lavender Fields, she is still feisty and fierce, but she is the one being pursued for revenge. Before Iris, Gutierrez has already displayed her exemplary versatility via the light-family drama, Marry Me, Marry You, and the girls’ love drama, Sleep with Me.
Gutierrez acknowledges these roles, which she believes have helped her massively in navigating her journey as an actress.
“Well, of course, I’m so grateful talaga, for all the projects I’ve done here. Grabe talaga ‘yung commitment, creativity, and collaboration natin dito sa Dreamscape, and especially sa ABS-CBN”, she said.
Gutierrez noted how her just three years of being a Kapamilya star, helped her enormously as an actress.
“I owe so much to like—three years pa lang ako dito na Kapamilya, at grabe ang mga nakakatrabaho ko, mga karakter na ginampanan ko, sobra ang pasasalamat ko, especially to Sir Deo, na talagang he really trusted me, took me under his wing and made me a part of his family,“ she added.
The multi-awarded actress, however, also acknowledges how her former home network, GMA Network, laid down the foundations of her artistry. “Doon (GMA) ako nag-umpisa from zero. Sila talaga ang naghirap sa akin. Tingin ko talaga…wala talaga akong alam sa ginagawa ko, so I’m thankful sa lahat ng creatives I worked with there, and the directors I worked with there. And every experience, every project na napagdaanan ko since nag-umpisa ako, has contributed to who I am today, “.
Gutierrez did not forget her fans who have been with her, since beginning her showbiz journey.
“Patuloy akong natututo sa mga taong nakakatrabaho ko. And sa inyo rin, mga fans, dahil yung mga komento nyo, mga reaksyon nyo, yun rin talaga ang nag-inspire sa amin na pagbutihan pa sa trabaho“.
Gutierrez was already a Gawad Urian Best Actress (Bala at Baril, 2020), when she moved to ABS-CBN in 2021.
